Budget 2026: Two-Day 50% Toll Discount For Deepavali
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a two-day, 50% toll discount for all highway users in conjunction with the Deepavali holidays.
The announcement, made during the tabling of Budget 2026 in Parliament today, did not specify which two days the discount will apply.
The move continues the government’s approach of offering partial toll discounts instead of full exemptions during major festive seasons.
The decision stems from cost-saving considerations as Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi had previously explained that waiving tolls completely would have cost the government around RM160 million in compensation to highway concessionaires.

By implementing a 50% discount, the cost is reduced by half to RM80 million, allowing the government to provide some relief to road users without overstretching public funds.
“This two-day 50% toll discount will be particularly helpful for Malaysians travelling to their hometowns,” he said.
