Budi95: KPDN Now Empowered to Check MyKad

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) confirmed that its enforcement officers are now legally empowered to inspect consumers’ MyKad.
This is also aimed at ensuring the smooth and fair rollout of the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and the Budi MADANI RON95 petrol subsidy (Budi95).
Kuala Lumpur KPDN director Mohd Sabri Seman said the measure is aimed at preventing misuse of identities and ensuring that only eligible Malaysians receive the targeted RON95 subsidy. He added that MyKad inspections will be carried out only when necessary as a reasonable preventive step.

KPDN has stepped up monitoring across all licensed petrol stations in Kuala Lumpur with 101 enforcement officers deployed. So far, 196 stations have been inspected with no irregularities or complaints reported.
Sabri said the checks ensure the SKPS system functions smoothly in line with the government’s goal of distributing RON95 subsidies transparently and accurately.
He added that every fuel purchase under SKPS and Budi95 is digitally recorded, allowing authorities to quickly identify suspicious patterns such as repeated or unusually large transactions.

This digital approach helps prevent manipulation and leakages within the fuel supply chain and reduces the smuggling practices that occurred in the past.
Launched nationwide on Sept 30, the Budi95 initiative allows eligible Malaysians to purchase up to 300 litres of RON95 a month at a subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre, compared with the standard RM2.60.
