GWM Tank 500 HEV Now Available in ‘Black Edition’ – RM336,800
GWM Malaysia expanded the variant count for its 'flagship' Tank 500 HEV today by announcing a new and special 'Black Edition' guise.

Think the GWM Tank 500 HEV lacked ‘attitude’ with its looks? Well, this newly announced ‘Black Edition’ variant might just be what you see. Announced earlier today by GWM Malaysia, this aptly named new variant rocks an exclusive blacked-out aesthetics package to stand out.
Starting with the exterior, this special variant gains exclusive darkened (smoked) headlamps flanking a black-painted front grille. Also finished the same dark hue are the front bumper garnish, fog lamp garnish, taillight garnish, back door garnish, rear bumper lower guard plate, rear bumper protector, as well as the door handles.

The 'Black Edition' special firstly wears the familiar 'Sun Black' exterior hue, and it gets matched with darkened headlights, as well as blacked-out grille, front bumper garnish, fog lamp garnish, taillight garnish, door handles, and more.

This dark motif also continues in the rolling stock and sees black-painted 20-inch wheels brimmed. Other key blacked-out detailed include the electric side-steps, window trim, roof rails, as well as model emblems. And if it’s not clear enough, this variant is offered solely in 'Sun Black' exterior paintwork.
Apart from which, there are no mechanical changes to report in this special variant of the GWM Malaysia’s ‘flagship’ 7-seater luxury off-roader that was launched at MAS 2025 earlier this year. It continues to harness a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill augmented by an e-motor and compact battery system, altogether outputting 346 PS and 648 Nm.
Said powerplant is mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission plus a switchable four-wheel-drive (4WD) system, the latter offering up to 11 selectable diff-lock and terrain modes. Also brimmed in the latter driveline are both an off-road cruise control function plus ‘Tank Turn’ mode.

Also blacked-out here besides the 20-inch rolling stock are the electric side-step and model emblems. This stealthier redux only costs an additional RM8,000 too.

If you’re digging this dark and arguably stealthier redux, there’s only one catch – it will cost extra. At RM336,800, the ‘Black Edition’ sees all its blacked-out aesthetics command a ‘modest’ RM8,000 increase over the regular Tank 500 HEV model mentioned, which is tagged at RM328,800.
Moreover, early customers booking the GWM Tank 500 HEV Black Edition will receive an exclusive ‘Limited Edition Premium Gift’ as a token of appreciation.

What continues unchanged too are the warranty coverages included in said prices. It consists firstly with a LIFETIME engine, transmission and HEV system warranty covering the first registered owner exclusively.
Next comes a power battery warranty lasting for 8 years or 200,000 KM, followed by a 6-year, unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty, not forgetting a 5-year free maintenance package included in the mix too.
