Launched: GAC Emkoo SUV – 2 CKD Variants, From RM123,800

The long-awaited GAC Emkoo SUV has debuted in Malaysia, featuring two CKD variants priced from RM123,800.
Over one year since it was first shown in Malaysia, plus several subsequent previews and its local assembly (CKD) commencement, the long-awaited GAC Emkoo has finally made its debut here in Malaysia. Two CKD variants of this C-segment SUV will be made available, with prices starting from RM123,800 for the baseline Premium and RM133,800 for the top-spec Premium Pro.

Said prices are inclusive of a standard 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, plus a separate 7-year or 180,000 km warranty for both the engine and powertrain. On top of that, the first 500 customers who booked the Emkoo will get a special early bird promo package, which includes RM4,000 in cash rebates and a complimentary accessory package worth up to RM10,000.
Included in the accessory package are a 2-channel digital video recorder (DVR), Emkoo-branded kickplates, a luggage tray, sport pedals, as well as a security window tint.

As detailed prior, the local-spec Emkoo is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cyl TGDi engine rated at 177 PS and 270 Nm. Power is then sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a 7-speed wet DCT gearbox, with GAC claiming a century sprint time of 8.8 seconds and an impressively low fuel consumption rate of 6.6 litres per 100 km.

Putting aside its futuristic and sharp exterior design, the Emkoo is quite a large SUV, spanning 4,680 mm long, 1,901 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. This puts it on par with other prominent C-SUVs like the Kia Sportage, the Hyundai Tucson, the GWM Haval H6 HEV, and the Honda CR-V.

Other key design highlights include full LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, and up to five exterior colour options—Super Star Silver, Graphite Grey, Frost White, Asphalt Black, and Star Lake Green.

Onboard amenities are plentiful for the local-spec Emkoo, with the biggest highlight being its 10.25-inch central infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, accompanied by a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel or a smaller 7-inch unit for the entry-level Premium guise. Other key highlights include ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, black leatherette upholstery, and many more.

Thanks to its relatively large size, the Emkoo boasts tons of cabin and cargo space, with the latter measuring 638 litres as standard and expandable to 1,586 litres with the rear seats down.
Safety is also paramount for the Emkoo, as both variants are equipped with a full suite of Level 2 ADAS, Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA), and GAC’s proprietary Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control (AVDC).

In conjunction with the Emkoo CKD launch, local GAC brand distributor WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA) also announced that GAC Malaysia now boasts a comprehensive network coverage of 45 service centres across Malaysia, in a bid to ensure greater accessibility and convenience for GAC owners.
