Seremban R&R Set To House Terra ChargEV – Nation’s First Integrated Charging Hub
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS), in partnership with Yinson GreenTech (YGT), officially broken ground on Malaysia’s first Integrated Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Hub at the Seremban R&R (Southbound) along the North–South Expressway (NSE).
The initiative marks a major step towards modernising the country’s highway network in line with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB). The project is jointly coordinated by the Works Ministry (KKR) under the supervision of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).
Expected to be completed by early 2027, the Seremban EV Hub will feature 20 DC fast charging points. It will also include eight duplex retail and F&B outlets, a drive-thru facility, 30 non-EV parking slots, public restrooms, and a surau, all for travellers’ convenience.
Designed with solar-ready infrastructure and energy-efficient lighting, the hub exemplifies Malaysia’s commitment to renewable energy and low-carbon mobility. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the project reflects the country’s effort to transform rest areas into smart, inclusive mobility destinations that also generate local economic growth.
There are currently 140 fast charging points along Malaysian highways, including 114 within the PLUS network, a figure that will rise by another 50 points next year. PLUS aims to expand this further to 350 charging points nationwide by 2028, aligning with its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050.
During the ceremony, PLUS and YGT also announced the formation of Terra ChargEV Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture to develop and manage future hubs along the expressway network.
PLUS Managing Director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said the Seremban EV Hub represents PLUS’s long-term vision to enhance user experience through innovation and sustainability. “This project combines efficient fast charging with diverse F&B options, shaping a new standard for rest area facilities,” she said.
YGT CEO Lim Chern Yuan added that the hub will address key EV user concerns: convenience, speed, and reliability while encouraging greater adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.
PLUS Chairman Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab. Latif said the Seremban site, already recognised as Malaysia’s first sustainable R&R, will serve as a benchmark for future highway developments. “Together with government partners, this project is a model for how innovation and public–private collaboration can drive the nation’s sustainable mobility future,” he said.
