KLIA Roof Leak: MAHB Halts Work On RM5.27 Million Contract

Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed today that Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has issued a stop-work order at KLIA Terminal 1 after last week’s rainwater leak disrupted operations.
The contractor responsible for the terminal’s waterproofing, Teras Budi Resources Sdn Bhd, holds a RM5.27 million contract running from April 2025 to April 2026.
“I have also directed MAHB to take strict action against the contractor for the negligence that led to the incident,” Loke said.

In the same post-cabinet meeting, Loke announced the formation of two special task forces to probe recent transport mishaps.
The first task force will investigate the Nov 7 container explosion at Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) aboard the MV Kyparissia, which killed three workers and injured three others.
The second will look into the Nov 8 commuter train incident at Butterworth Railway Station, where an empty train overran the tracks at Platform 4.
“The task forces will assess the cause of the incident and determine necessary improvements to prevent a recurrence,” Loke added.

The minister also instructed APAD to open an investigation file on the train driver and take follow-up action once the inquiry is complete.
“These task forces operate at the Ministry level to ensure investigations are independent and fully transparent,” he concluded.
