The all-new Nissan NX8 SUV has been revealed in China, featuring both battery electric and range-extender options.

Detailed specs and first images of the new Nissan NX8 have been unveiled in China, thanks to the latest filing for China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Besides featuring both battery electric (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) powertrain options, the NX8 is also billed as Dongfeng Nissan’s first ‘international’ SUV model, thus hinting at potential exports beyond the Great Wall borders.

We’ll start with the powertrain details first, where the NX8 underpins Dongfeng Nissan’s Tianyan architecture that features an 800-volt platform and CATL’s advanced 5C ultra-fast charging technology. The BEV version will get two single-motor variants, with the top-spec model featuring a combined output of up to 335 hp (250 kW), but no battery configuration was shared for now.

As for the EREV version, it features a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine rated at 146 hp (109 kW) as a core, which is then mated to an electric motor delivering a peak power of 261 hp (195 kW). Three battery options—20.3 kWh, 21.1 kWh, and 37.4 kWh—are available to choose from, with Dongfeng Nissan claiming they can deliver pure electric ranges from 102 km to 185 km.

In terms of design, the NX8 continues to follow the same design ethos seen on other Dongfeng Nissan EVs, featuring the evolution of Nissan’s V-motion design language. Up front, it gets a full-width ‘star ring’ LED bar that is complemented by a flat illuminated Nissan logo and matrix-style main LED headlights.

The vehicle’s side profile features a typical sleek Chinese EV SUV bodystyle with concealed door handles, low panel gaps, wide rear shoulders to give the NX8 a more muscular stance, and wheel options ranging from 19 to 20 inches. Things are quite simplistic at the rear part, where the SUV sports a slim full-width OLED taillight bar that supports customisable lighting patterns and a subtle rear bumper garnish finished in black.

Dimension-wise, the NX8 spans 4,870 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,917 mm, thus putting it on par with other popular midsize EV SUVs such as the Xpeng G7, Zeekr 7X, Tesla Model Y, and many more.

No interior images were unveiled for now, but we’ve been told that the NX8 will offer advanced intelligent driving functions, as indicated by the roof-mounted LiDAR unit at the front. Buyers can expect to get some high-degree autonomous driving abilities, such as high-speed navigation assistance (NOA), urban navigation assistance (NOA), and full-scenario intelligent parking.

While the NX8 was originally developed for the local Chinese market consumption, CarNewsChina reported that Dongfeng Nissan might export this midsize SUV to overseas markets like the Middle East and Southeast Asia, given its advanced features and more. That said, the Nissan NX8 will be making its debut sometime later in the first half of 2026, so only by then will we get to know more details about this SUV.
