UMW Toyota Casts Spotlight On Multi-Pathway Ethos At CETA Summit
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) seized the initiative and casted a spotlight on its Multi-Pathway Approach to decarbonisation at the recent CETA 2025 summit held KL earlier this month.

During the recent Clean Energy Transition Asia (CETA) summit held earlier this month in Kuala Lumpur, leading automaker UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) seized the initiative to cast a spotlight on its renowned Multi-Pathway Decarbonisation ethos.
The automaker serves as a foundation partner for CETA through MobilityX, and it saw the firm joining governments, industries and regional stakeholders with the joint aim of advancing cleaner and mobility across both Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
According to UMWT, the firm’s renowned Multi-Pathway Approach to decarbonisation complements national Malaysian priorities set under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB).
UMWT Executive Director Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain was present on hand in a forum discussing how the automaker's Multi-Pathway Approach complements Malaysia's net-zero carbon missions and agendas.

Guidance for which also stemmed from Toyota’s Global Environmental Challenge 2050 initiative, as well as the understanding that no single tech fits all, especially in markets as diverse as both Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s.
At the summit, UMWT continued to emphasis a technology-neutral policy that acknowledges the diverse mobility needs present in Malaysia, which in turn also reflects upon the automaker’s ‘Mobility for All’ philosophy.
As detailed prior, the Toyota Multi-Pathway ethos consists of traditional internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), as well as fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), each serving different communities and industries.
Key vehicles featuring core technologies from Toyota displayed during which included hybrids (HEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

Critically, this approach also ensures no one is left behind when supporting national Malaysian sustainability agendas and commitment towards net-zero emissions.
UMWT further touts that energy-efficient ICE and HEVs bring immediate carbon reductions, whilst BEVs are supported through NETR investment in charging, renewable energy and grid enhancements – all of which were showcased at Beyond Zero in 2024.
As for hydrogen, the automaker also reckons it to be a key component to its broader strategy noted. The firm started early through pilot projects such as the fleet supply of Toyota Mirai FCEV saloons to the Sarawak State Government via SEDC.
This was later followed up by Malaysia’s first Mobile Hydrogen refueling Station (MHRS) pilot in Putrajaya spearheaded under the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR) initiative. A total of nine hydrogen FCEV vehicles were deployed since as a result.
UMWT also seized the initiative at CETA 2025 to launch the R.A.C.E to Zero 2026 initiative by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Besides that, UMWT also set the CETA 2025 summit as a stage to officially launch the new R.A.C.E to ZERO 2026 initiative by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Moreover, through the CETA 2025 summit, UMWT also strengthened its collaborations with the government, industry, and academia.
Lastly, the firm reiterates that it remains committed to solutions, services, and talent development that support Malaysia’s clean-mobility ambitions and long-term competitiveness.
