The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced that the government has appointed three new companies to provide Motor Vehicle Inspection Services (PPKM) alongside Puspakom.

This decision aligns with the resolution made by the Cabinet on March 17, 2023, to open the mandatory vehicle inspection services under the Road Transport Act 1987 [Act 333] to other qualified companies.

A total of 12 companies submitted their interest in the phase one of the PPKM application which was open from Jul 1, 2024, to Oct 31, 2024. From that, MoT and JPJ have agreed to appoint three companies for the first phase of PPKM implementation.

The selected companies are:

  1. Wawasan Bintang Sdn. Bhd. - Port Klang, Selangor; Gua Musang, Kelantan; and Mersing, Johor.
  2. Pakatan Petroleum Sdn. Bhd. - Rawang, Selangor, and Temerloh, Pahang.
  3. Beriman Gold Sdn. Bhd. - Kuching and Serian, Sarawak.

The selection of these companies was based on several key criteria. Each company needs to have a strong financial position, with a minimum paid-up capital of RM10 million, private limited status, and locally owned. In addition to this, their proposed locations align with the designated PPKM service areas set by MOT and zoning regulations outlined by PLAN Malaysia.

The appointed companies will receive their PPKM appointment letters and will have a period of 24 months to complete the necessary infrastructure requirements. This includes the development of premises, procurement of inspection equipment, and obtaining approvals from relevant authorities.

To further expand the availability of PPKM services, MOT will open applications for the second phase from Mar 1, 2025, to Jun 31, 2025. Companies that were unsuccessful in the first phase, as well as other interested and eligible firms, are encouraged to submit applications.
