Jetour T2 Secures 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating

Fresh from its regional safety assessment, the newly revealed Jetour T2 has secured a full 5-star rating under the latest ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 crash test protocol. The rugged SUV achieved an overall score of 86.50 points, making it the first Jetour model to be tested by ASEAN NCAP and placing it among the top-rated SUVs assessed under the current, stricter regime.
In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, the Jetour T2 scored 29.74 points out of a possible 32. ASEAN NCAP noted that the frontal occupant compartment remained stable during the frontal offset crash test.

Test data showed adequate protection to the driver’s chest, although marginal protection was recorded for the driver’s left lower leg. Side impact and head protection performance were rated at the maximum score.
Child Occupant Protection (COP) performance was also strong, with the T2 scoring 40.63 points out of 51. The SUV performed well in both frontal and side impact tests involving child occupants.

Additional points were gained from vehicle-based assessments and the presence of Child Presence Detection and ISOFIX mountings, which are standard across all variants.
In the Safety Assist category, the Jetour T2 earned 18.00 points out of 21. Standard-fit features such as Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System and seatbelt reminders for both front and rear occupants formed the foundation of this score.

ASEAN NCAP also confirmed the effectiveness of the T2’s Autonomous Emergency Braking City and Inter-Urban systems, which are offered as optional equipment across the range.
The SUV also performed well in the Motorcycle Safety pillar, scoring 13.00 points out of 16. This result was largely driven by standard Blind Spot Detection on both sides of the vehicle, along with pedestrian protection measures.
Tested under ASEAN NCAP’s 2021–2025 protocol, the Jetour T2 benefited from the framework’s greater emphasis on active and preventive safety technologies, which now carry more weight in determining the final star rating.

This 5-star result comes as Jetour Malaysia recently gave the public its first look at the right-hand-drive version of the T2 at the Setia City Convention Centre, with an estimated price of RM178,888.

For now, only one variant has been revealed, featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and real-time four-wheel drive. This powertrain produces 242 hp and 375 Nm, giving the T2 a blend of strong on-road performance and genuine off-road capability.
A 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid variant is also expected to arrive at a later stage. It is set to use Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM system and promises up to 129 km of electric-only range, along with a total driving range of up to 1,300 km.
