KTM Double-Track Klang Line Set For March Completion

Daily commuters along the Klang–KL Sentral KTM Komuter line can look forward to better train services soon, as upgrade works on the Klang Valley Double Track Phase 2 (KVDT2) project between Subang Jaya and Klang are expected to be completed by the end of March.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said this section is currently the main focus of construction works and is on track to be finished within the first quarter of the year. 

However, he added that the full KVDT2 project, which stretches further south to Seremban, will take a few more years before it is fully completed.

To keep things moving while construction continues, KTM Komuter schedules have been adjusted based on real commuter data. During morning peak hours, trains now run only from Klang towards KL Sentral, as studies show that nearly 90% of passengers are travelling into Kuala Lumpur for work during this time.

Previously, trains had to operate in both directions, which caused long waiting times of over an hour. With the new one-way setup, commuters now get trains every 30 minutes, with six morning trips running until about 9AM. 

After that, services are temporarily paused until 4PM to allow construction works to continue without disruption.

In the evening, the direction switches, with KTM Komuter trains running from KL Sentral back to Klang, matching the rush of office workers heading home after work.  

According to Loke, this arrangement helps speed up construction progress while still ensuring commuters have reliable train services during peak periods.
