Launched: 2026 GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV – CKD, RM269,800
GWM Malaysia officially launched the highly anticipated 2026 GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV luxury MPV offering earlier today.

With registration of interest (ROI) opened since Sept 2025, the wait for the 2026 GWM Wey G9 luxury MPV is finally over for prospecting Malaysia buyers. Earlier today, GWM Malaysia officially launched said model with much fanfare at MITEC, KL.
As reported prior, the Wey G9 is locally assembled (CKD) by contract assemblers EPMB at its Melaka facility, and Chinese automaker will be exporting it across ASEAN too besides marketing it locally in Malaysia. It's also now the first Chinese PHEV MPV that's locally assembled in Malaysia too.
Just one variant will be offered, that being the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV, and it is priced at RM269,800. Included in said price is a 6-year, unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 8-year or 180,000 KM coverage for its hybrid battery, power motor and control unit.

Locally assembled (CKD), the Wey G9 for Malaysia commands an attractive price tag of RM269,800. Included in said figure is a comprehensive after-sales and ownership package to boot.

Besides that, GWM Malaysia will also include a 5-year free maintenance package, 5-year free connected services data plan, as well as a complimentary home wallbox charger. Moreover, the first 1,000 buyers will also gain a complimentary second-row entertainment screen fitted.
Additionally, existing GWM owners and customers seeking to upgrade into or adopt the Wey G9 will benefit further with an additional RM3,000 rebate.
For Malaysia, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV sees three exterior colour choices available – Aurora White, Wisdom Grey and Nebula Black. Matching witch are the choice between either a black or brown nappa leather interior upholstery colour choice, both offset by a contrasting grey roof.

Under the hood, the Wey G9 packs a unique PHEV powertrain that puts out 442 PS, but the real headlining figures are its 170 KM electric-only range and 6.2 litres/100 KM fuel economy average.

As a recap, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV is powered by unique plug-in hybrid powertrain setup. It consists of a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill paired with dual e-motors plus a sizeable 44.28 kWH NMC battery pack. Altogether, the package puts out 442 PS and 642 Nm, and a 4-speed DHT automatic box manages it all.
Drive goes to all four wheels (AWD) and sees 0-100 km/h dashes despatched in just 5.7 secs. However, the real headlining figures for this electrified luxo-MPV are both its 170 KM all-electric driving range, its frugal 6.2 litres/100 KM NEDC-rated fuel economy average, as well as a combined petrol-electric range well over 1,000 KM (NEDC).
In terms of charging, the battery pack detailed accepts both 6.6 kW AC and up to 60 kW DC fast-charging inputs. The latter sees 30-80% re-charge cycles taking just 26 minutes, whilst the former sees 15-100% re-charges done in about 6.5 hours.

Notable kit brimmed in this posh 7-seater include second-row powered Zero Gravity seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, up to 11 USB charging ports, a 21-speaker audio suite rated at 2,440 watts, 3.3 kW V2L function, 12.5-litre hot-cold fridge that can operate for up to 24 hours, powered dual sliding doors and tailgate, and more.
As for safety, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV comes laden with a host of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features powered by 12 ultrasonic radars, dual milimeter-wave radars plus six cameras. In turn, it all enables Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities for this electrified luxury MPV.

On top of Level 2 ADAS functions, the Wey G9 is also constructed on a high-strength chassis.

Said ADAS functions come on top of the fact that the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV underpins a high-strength chassis constructed with over 83% high-strength steel plus 1,500-2,000 MPa reinforcements. You can get to grips with all this via our in-depth preview report by clicking these blue words…
Following today’s launch, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV is now opened for viewing and bookings at all authorised GWM showrooms nationwide. What do you folks reckon?
