Scrap Your Old Car, Get Up To RM4,000 For A New Proton

Proton has rolled out trade-in incentives across its entire model range in support of the Malaysian government’s Matching Grant Programme for the Replacement of Old Vehicles.
The programme applies to vehicles aged 20 years or older that are scrapped and removed from the road. Eligible customers will receive Proton trade-in incentives, supplemented by a government matching grant of up to RM2,000, to help offset the cost of a new Proton vehicle.
All current Proton models qualify. Buyers of the Proton Saga and Proton e.MAS 5 will receive incentives of up to RM1,000, while customers purchasing models such as the new Proton X50, Proton X70 and Proton e.MAS 7 will be offered up to RM2,000.

When combined with the government grant, total incentives amount to up to RM2,000 for the Saga and e.MAS 5, and up to RM4,000 for other eligible models.
Proton said the initiative supports the government’s push to phase out ageing vehicles in favour of safer, cleaner and more efficient alternatives, while also reinforcing the company’s growth strategy for 2026.

Following a strong performance in 2025, where its sales volume growth outpaced total industry volume growth by more than six fold, Proton is targeting sales of 200,000 units this year.
Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong said the company was proud to partner the government in encouraging the responsible replacement of unroadworthy vehicles and supporting the transition to cleaner mobility.

The incentives build on the Proton Xchange Programme launched in May 2025, which offered up to RM2,000 in overtrade value for customers scrapping old vehicles.
By the end of 2025, the programme recorded 4,344 transactions, with about RM8.68 million channelled towards the purchase of new Proton vehicles.
