50% Toll Discount Nationwide for CNY 2026

The government will provide a 50% toll discount on selected highways for CNY 2026, easing travel costs during the festive period.

The discount applies to Class 1 private vehicles nationwide and Class 2 vehicles on the Penang Bridge, from 12:01 am on 14 Feb to 11:59 pm on 15 Feb, excluding Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang (LINKDUA) toll plazas. 

The government will compensate affected concessionaires an estimated RM19.5 million, reflecting the MADANI government’s commitment to public welfare.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi noted the initiative aims to cut travel costs and improve traffic management during peak balik kampung periods. LLM expects traffic to rise from Feb 13, with peak volumes of about 3.27 million vehicles heading north, south, and east coast ahead of celebrations on Feb 17–18.

To manage congestion, LLM has instructed all concessionaires to suspend lane closures (except emergencies) from Feb 12–23. Smart lanes will operate at 32 PLUS Expressway locations, temporarily opening emergency lanes based on traffic conditions. 

Additionally, toll collection will be closely monitored, with multi-lane booths at busy plazas. Rest areas and lay-bys will be fully operational, with extra parking, toilets, and personnel deployed.

Motorists are advised to plan journeys via the TuJu app, ensure vehicles and e-payment balances are ready, and follow traffic instructions. Motorcyclists should remain alert near smart lanes and use 571 motorcycle shelters nationwide during poor weather.
