HMY Set To CKD Santa Fe & Tucson, Will Also Introduce Stargazer This Year
The introduction of N is only a small part of a much larger plan for 2026 by HMY. Plans are underway to localise more models and expand the line-up up further too.

As noted in our previous report, the introduction of the N performance sub-brand through the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N performance EV models this year by Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) forms only a small part of a much larger plan.
During its Chinese New Year press dinner held last night, HMY further confirmed plans on expanding its local assembly (CKD) efforts with contract assemblers Inokom in Kulim, Kedah, which currently sees just one model produced – the Staria full-sized MPV.
By second quarter (Q2) this year, this operation will be expanded to include both the Santa Fe and Tucson models too.

Currently, HMY only has one CKD model made by Inokom - the Staria full-sized MPV.
By Q2 this year, HMY is poised to have both its Santa Fe flagship D-SUV (left) and Tucson C-SUV (right) localised with Inokom too.

With localisation in the pipelines, HMY are also widely expected to rationalise the prices of both the Tucson and Santa Fe models details, but this remains to be seen. Moreover, the firm also stated that it is exploring the possibility of exporting these Malaysia-built models.
As a recap, both the flagship D-SUV and face-lifted premium C-SUV offerings were introduced by HMY as fully imported (CBU) offerings in 2025 when the firm was just established.

Face-lifted fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson currently sees four variants available priced between RM143,888 and RM197,888.

The face-lifted fourth-gen Tucson sees four variants currently available priced between RM143,888 and RM197,888. Three powertrain choices are available including a brand new 1.6 TGDi Hybrid setup reserved exclusively for the range-topping Prestige guise.
The other two consists of a familiar 2.0-litre MPI 4-cyl NA petrol mill paired with a 6-speed automatic box (Style) and a higher-end 1.6-litre TGDi 4-cyl turbo petrol mill option that’s paired with an equally higher-specced 7-speed DCT automatic (Prime and Prestige).
Standing as HMY's flagship offering, the new fifth-gen Santa Fe D-SUV sees three variants available priced between RM225,000 and RM270,000.

Moving to the new fifth-gen Santa Fe, Hyundai’s latest and strikingly-styled three-row D-SUV offering presently sees three variants on offer priced between RM225,000 and RM270,000.
Two hybrid variants are available, both sharing the same 1.6-litre TGDi Hybrid powertrain as the range-topping Tucson model mentioned. Next to it comes a range-topping guise powered by a 2.5-litre TGDi 4-cyl mill and paired with all-wheel-drive (AWD).
HMY also surprised us by confirming plans to introduce a B-segment MPV by Q4 this year. The model wasn't named outright, but we're certain it's the Stargazer pictured.

Next up, a surprise announcement came in the form of HMY confirming plans to introduce a ‘B-segment MPV’ (B-MPV) by the final quarter (Q4) of this year too. HMY execs didn’t named the model outright, but we are certain it will be the Hyundai Stargazer.
Locally, said nameplate, which debuted in neighbouring Indonesia as far back as Aug 2022, will battle against the likes of the Perodua Alza and Toyota Veloz twin, the Mitsubishi Xpander, and perhaps woo away prospects from the upcoming C28-gen Nissan Serena E-Power.

Made in Indonesia, the Stargazer compact MPV sees 6- and 7-seater choices available on hand, and it comes loaded with a bevy of posh amenities.

Face-lifted in Indonesia last year, this compact three-row MPV is powered by a familiar 1.5-litre MPI 4-cyl petrol mill rated at 115 PS and 144 Nm. Notably, the mill is paired with the Hyundai marque’s very own IVT – a chain belt (not push belt) CVT box.
Both 7-seater and much posher 6-seater choices are available in the Indonesian market, the latter bringing second-row ‘Captain Seats’. In said republic, the model is priced between IDR258.2 million (RM60,312) and IDR331.9 million (RM77,528).
It's unclear if the Stargazer will arrive as a CBU imported directly from Indonesia, or if HMY will localise it with Inokom in Kulim, Kedah.

At this stage, what remains unclear is if the HMY will import the Stargazer as a CBU directly from Indonesia – where it is made – or if the firm plans to localise it alongside the Staria, Tucson and Santa Fe at the Inokom plant mentioned.
Expect more details closer to the model’s proposed Q4 launch window. In the meantime, what do you folks reckon? Do you reckon this B-MPV entry could be where HMY strikes big and well? Share your take in the comments below…
