JPJ Enforces Heavy Vehicle Road Ban Ahead of CNY To Ease Traffic

As Malaysians prepare to celebrate the 2026 Chinese New Year, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) is taking proactive steps to ensure road safety and smoother traffic flow during the festive period.
Under the Ministry of Transport, JPJ is launching a special operation targeting public service vehicles and motorcycles, continuing its annual road safety campaign themed "Drive Carefully, Arrive Safely.”
The campaign will feature a series of awareness initiatives, including public exhibitions, educational talks, distribution of road safety materials, and strategic collaborations with media and partner agencies.
To reduce congestion and minimize the risk of accidents, JPJ will implement a temporary driving ban on certain heavy goods vehicles during peak travel periods.
The restrictions will take place from 14 to 15 February and 21 to 22 February 2026, covering a wide range of trucks and lorries, including those transporting construction materials, cement, steel, sand, soil, timber, palm oil products, scrap rubber, and other heavy loads.
Vehicles such as mobile cranes and cement mixers will also face restrictions in areas near construction sites during specific hours. Exceptions are made for emergency and rescue operations, as well as vehicles not listed under the restricted categories.

JPJ is urging all drivers and operators to comply with these rules and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays. Road users are also reminded to obey traffic regulations, ensure their vehicles are in proper working condition, and travel safely throughout the festive season.
Any complaints regarding traffic violations can be submitted through the MyJPJ app or via email at [email protected].
