Game Over, Tonto! JPJ Teams Up With MACC To Hunt Down Secret Lorry Informant Syndicates

If you’ve ever noticed random, matching mystery stickers on heavy commercial tipper trucks during your commute, it turns out those aren’t just for decoration.

During a press conference at the Gombak enforcement station, JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan revealed that the department has uncovered an organized scheme where lorry operators use these custom stickers to identify themselves to "tonto" (underworld lookout) networks. In exchange for subscription fees, these tontos physically tail JPJ teams the moment operations begin and relay real-time coordinate updates to the stickered lorries.

Once warned, the drivers immediately abandon their main routes to "lay low" on jalan tikus (back roads) or park up until the enforcement window ends.

Because these lookouts are actively sabotaging road raids, JPJ is taking the matter seriously and forwarding all intelligence to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Moving forward, the two departments are planning joint operations to root out the informant networks entirely.
