Malaysia receives a single locally assembled Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH variant, produced in Kulim, Kedah and priced at RM159,800 on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

Its 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine works with a transmission-integrated electric motor for an official combined output of 205 KW (275 HP / 279 PS) and 365 NM. An 18.3 KWH LFP battery provides a claimed 90 KM pure-electric range, while total petrol-electric driving range reaches up to 1,200 KM.

The PHEV receives a completely different dashboard from the Tiggo 8 Pro.

A 10.25-INCH digital instrument cluster sits separately from the large 15.6-INCH central infotainment touchscreen, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset.

The dashboard also incorporates 64-colour dynamic ambient lighting.

The raised centre console contains the centre air vents, twin cup holders, drive-mode selector and a ventilated 50 W wireless smartphone charger.

The transmission selector has been moved to an electronic steering-column stalk, freeing additional space on the console.

A useful cooled storage compartment is incorporated beneath the front centre armrest.

A 10.25-INCH fully digital instrument cluster displays speed, battery level, fuel level, hybrid operating status and driving information.

Hybrid-specific graphics allow the driver to monitor the interaction between the combustion engine, electric motor and battery.

The display changes information according to the selected vehicle mode.

The rear retains the Tiggo 8’s broad three-row SUV profile.

A roof spoiler sits above the rear windscreen, while the PHEV receives its own lower bumper treatment and model-specific badging.

Unlike the Tiggo 8 Pro, the Malaysian Tiggo 8 PHEV does not feature a powered tailgate, with the rear hatch operated manually.

The Tiggo 8 PHEV features full-LED automatic headlamps.

LED daytime running lights, cornering illumination, Follow-Me-Home functionality and Intelligent High-Beam Control are included.

The front lighting also incorporates sequential LED turn indicators.

The rear features full-width LED tail lamps.

Sequential direction indicators are provided at the rear as well as the front.

The Tiggo 8 PHEV features a premium 10-speaker Sony audio system.

The additional speakers provide coverage across all three seating rows.

Music can be accessed through Bluetooth, USB and wireless smartphone integration.

The Tiggo 8 PHEV uses a 1,498 CC turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder petrol engine operating as part of Chery’s Super Hybrid system.

The combustion engine produces 105 KW (141 HP / 143 PS) and 215 NM.

A transmission-integrated permanent-magnet electric motor produces 150 KW (201 HP / 204 PS) and 310 NM.

Standard equipment includes Smart Entry, remote engine start, automatic rain-sensing wipers, automatic electric windows and an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror.

Unlike the Tiggo 8 Pro, however, the Malaysian PHEV omits both a powered tailgate and panoramic sunroof.

The ability to accept 40 KW DC charging is particularly useful for a PHEV, allowing a 30-80% recharge in just 19 minutes, while 3.3 KW V2L further improves its versatility.

Equipment is also generous, including a 15.6-inch Snapdragon-powered touchscreen, 10-speaker Sony audio, 50 W wireless charging, 540-degree camera, eight airbags and comprehensive ADAS.

The main omissions are surprising for a seven-seat family flagship – there is no powered tailgate or panoramic sunroof – while its FWD layout is less sophisticated than more expensive AWD hybrid SUVs.

Nevertheless, its combination of seven-seat practicality, 1,930 L maximum cargo capacity, meaningful EV capability, DC charging and RM159,800 pricing makes the Tiggo 8 PHEV one of the stronger value-oriented family PHEVs in Malaysia.
