Honda Jazz

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V is a hatchback that is based on the Honda City sedan. The Japanese manufacturer has built the B-segment hatchback that offers the complete package of a powerful engine, spacious interior as well as a decent mileage.

Honda launched the B-segment hatchback in 4 variants ranging from Jazz 1.5L S, Jazz 1.5L E, Jazz 1.5L V and Jazz 1.5L Hybrid. The models are priced at RM 72, 511, RM 78, 161, RM 84, 955 and RM 87, 707 correspondingly.

The dashboard design is sleek, practical and simple, comes in an all-black coated high quality hard plastic material with silver trims as a detailing finish. Easiness for the driver, buttons and other controls for the system are placed strategically on the dashboard. It portrays a premium feel overall.    

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V is installed with an electroluminescent analogue with 3D illuminated LCD-MID instrument cluster. 

The seats are finished in full black leather and fabric combination upholstery. It gets manual adjustable front seats with manual recline tip-up ULTRA rear seats.

The Jazz 1.5L V offers plenty of head, shoulder and legroom thus front and rear occupants get ample space. The overall cabin space is very generous as the Jazz is class-leading in space practicality. 

It has numerous storage areas including medium sized door pockets, compartmentalized storage areas with a cavern storage under the armrest in the center console and a decent-sized glove box.

There are 7 cup holders, with 2 in the center console and the other 5 are strategically located all around the interior cabin. As for the bottle holders it gets 4 with each one in the side door panels. 

The Jazz 1.5L V gets one 12-volt power socket and 2 USB sockets both located in the front center console also located in the front center console is an HDMI port. 

With 363-litres of boot space it is able to fit up to 2 golf bags and up to 881-litres of boot space with the seats folded down it is able to fit a large full sized bicycle without a hitch.

The measurements are 3,989 mm length, 1,694 mm width, 1,524 mm height, and weigh 1,099 kg with a wheelbase spanning 2,530 mm.

The Honda 1.5L V exudes an aerodynamically sporty exterior with a front bumper that is designed to have a streamline outlook. It gets a chrome black grille with the Honda badge in the middle that sits above a slim chrome black trim that connects the headlights. It also gets angular-shaped with black cladding finish DRLs located at the lower end corners of the bumpers and accompanied by a large air inlet in the middle. 

At the rear, the Jazz 1.5L V gets a new simple yet sporty design. It’s designed with a slim roof-edge spoiler with integrated brake light. Paired with a chrome trim stretched diagonally in the middle of the hatch with the Honda badge in the center trim. The rear bumper gets a clean and sporty curvy design all around and is accompanied by a sporty looking bumper integrated fake vent.  

It gets a pair of sharp and slim angular-shaped halogen headlamps. The sharp design gives the front a more bold and athletic look.

At the back, the taillights get LED combination units with a large hook-like design that has a commanding presence of the whole layout. Overall it emphasizes the sporty design approach well.

The side mirrors are power adjusted and power folded with turn-indicators.   

The Jazz 1.5L V is equipped with 16-inch, 5 twin-spoke bladed design alloy rims with 185/55 tyres. 

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V features Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Auto Cruise Control (ACC).

Passive safety includes 6 airbags which includes front, side and curtain, seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, 4 rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, security alarm with immobilizer and multi-angle reverse camera system.

Three drive modes available – Normal, Eco and Sport.

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V features a 6.8-inch audio touchscreen digital head unit that supports Hands-Free Telephone (HFT) function and voice command. It also supports HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated, 4 Cylinder 16 Valve, SOHC i-VTEC engine produces 120 PS of max power at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. 

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V gets a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic gearbox. 

Power is sent to its front wheels.

The Jazz 1.5L V manages to complete the century sprint in 11.8-seconds.

The fuel tank capacity is 40-litres and it is capable of delivering a combined fuel consumption figure of 5.6-litres for every 100 km.  

It has smart keyless entry with engine push-button start, touch panel auto air-conditioning, multi-function steering wheel, steering tilt and telescopic functions, multi-angle reverse camera and rear parking sensors, paddle shifters and ULTRA rear seats with manual adjustments.

The seats are firm but supportive. Overall it is comfortable and spacious. The Jazz 1.5L V’s performance and handling are more intuitive and agile. Best suited for city driving.

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V has a noise level of 64 dB at 60 kph, 69 dB at 90 kph and 71 dB at 110 kph. Overall the noise level is fairly decent. Tyre noises and outside wind noises suppression can use some improvements.

The Honda Jazz 1.5L V has a design that triumphs in detailing and smartness. It gets a sporty look and a comfortable cabin space with a combination of practicality and sophistication.

It offers great performance and delivers a good fuel efficiency. Still, amongst the tough competition from its peers, Honda Jazz is a good all-rounder city car in the hatchback segment.

In summary, the Honda Jazz 1.5L V is the most spacious and practical hatchback in its class, with great performance dynamics at a low maintenance cost. Overall, with the price of RM 84, 955, the Jazz 1.5L V is a value for money car.
