Images of a face-lifted version of the Honda City compact sedan has leaked online ahead of its scheduled market debut in India. Based on the images and details garnered through sources in India, the model features several minor design revisions inside and out.
On the exterior, revisions can be seen up front as the new 2023MY City for India gets a new front grille with honeycomb inserts and slimmer new chrome trim on top of which. Whilst similar to what’s seen in the sport RS version, the new honeycomb grille inserts sport larger patterns instead.
Below this comes a new front bumper design featuring redesigned intakes – they’re now inverted. Also new are the front foglamps surrounds mirroring what seen in the larger Civic model. At the rear, there’s now a larger and more angular faux diffuser assembly primed in the rear bumper’s lower quadrant.
On board, leaked images show the cabin getting refreshed with a classier all-black finishing motif. Credible sources in India also report the addition of new features such a wireless smartphone charging pad and perhaps ventilated seats, however much of these might be exclusive for the Indian market only.
As for powertrain, the City is offered with several choices in India starting with a regular 1.5-litre 4-cyl petrol mill next to a hybrid petrol-electric unit featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl plus a dual-motor setup, not forgetting a peppier 1.0-litre 3-cyl turbo as well – only the former two options are offered in Malaysia.
Beyond that, little else has been reported, with many sources in India speculating this updated 2023MY Honda City slated to officially launch in said market as early as next month – March. This refresh should see this Honda City compact sedan stack up well against its rivals in said subcontinent's market.
Presently, the B-segment compact sedan market in India has seen competition grow fiercely. Apart from this refresh Honda, the rivalling Nissan Almera is also set to get a refresh soon, whereas Toyota have introduced an all-new iteration of the Vios there too.
Presently, the Honda City sedan is on sale in Malaysia where it’s priced between RM 77,600 to RM 108,800, depending on variant of course. You can find out how its de-booted hybrid twin fared in our hands recently by clicking here.
