Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) recently launched the locally-assembled (CKD) version of the A-Class Sedan, which is notably more affordable than the previous, fully-imported (CBU) model that first arrived here in April 2019.
The CKD A-Class Sedan is offered in two variants, the base A 200 Progressive Line goes for RM210,903, making it RM11,000 less than before, while the A 250 AMG Line has gone down by RM19,000 at RM239,858. These figures are on-the-road without insurance, factoring in full sales and service tax (SST) exemption that has been extended to June 30, 2022.

The dashboard is made of high-quality materials and an intuitive ergonomic design. The layout is user friendly, with buttons and switches easily accessible.

These models use electrically adjustable seats with memory functions, and front-seats finishing has a more luxurious look with 60:40 Split-folding rear 

Being the best of its segment with regard to rear headroom (944 mm), these sedans offer great utility that includes above-average shoulder, elbow and headroom plus easy access to the rear.

The Mercedess A Class Sedans come with a regular size glove compartment that can fit in your service booklet and a few packets of wet tissues with extra space left for other items. It also has a small armrest storage compartment that is spacious enough to hide your handphones and smart tag. Additionally, both front seats come with organisers at the back.

Both A 200 progressive line and A 250 AMG line have Rack and pinion with electric power steering, accompanied with the audio, cruise control, phone function. The sportier steering wheels covered in leather gives an avant-garde feel with tilt and telescopic function.

The boot of the Mercedes A Class Sedans have a capacity of 420 litres designed for practical usability.

A 200 Progressive Line and A 250 AMG Line share the same dimension for Length and Width (mm) at 4,549 x 1,796. However these two models differ in height with A 200 stands at 1446mm and 1451mm for the A 250.
Both models have wheelbase of 2,729 mm. 

The A class front-end highlighting a carbon fibre-look trim for the A 200 Progressive Line and a light linear-grain aluminium trim for the A250 AMG Line, giving a hint of classiness which contrasted by the bold and sharper looking front end.

Both variants also come with advanced safety features such as the PRE-SAFE positioning for front seats, tyre pressure monitoring system, anti-theft alarm system, active brake assist, blind-spot assist, exit warning assist, parking function with perpendicular parking, TIREFIT, reverse camera, a status display for rear seat belts in the instrument cluster and cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC Speed Limiter.

Both cars have 7 airbags, seatbelts (seatbelt reminder for all seats) and Isofix child seat, security alarm and immobilizer 

The A 200 and A 250 come with parking sensor front, parking sensor rear, parking camera, cruise control, auto parking, auto start/stop and hill start assist

MBUX multimedia system on a 10.25-inch media display, a Touchpad, Extended MBUX functions, Hard disc navigation, Apple Car Play and Android Auto for both models

Engine-wise, both sedans offer efficient and robust engines that generate 1.3-litre engine 163 hp for A 200 Progressive Line and 2.0-litre with a superior engine acceleration of 224 hp for A 250 AMG Line.
With a superb and dynamic design coupled with a steadfast engine, Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan is a showstopper of its style.

Both are paired with an 7-speed DCT with A 200 manufactured by Getrag while A 250 AMG was by Mercedes-Benz (Daimler AG)

Power is sent to all four wheels.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class on the class of its own when it comes to interior design with Generous Features- Loaded with high tech features such as the MBUX which essentially serves as your personal butler in your car. While it looks and feels expensive, the ride is not as plush as expected and it is not as dynamically inclined as, say, a Ford Focus.
