Suzuki Jimny 5-Door

Uniquely-charming, the long-awaited bigger rendition of the Jimny 3-Door, the all-new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door, launched in Malaysia.

A fourth-generation 4x4 SUV, it underpins a Ladder Frame chassis and is built with more space courtesy of its extended wheelbase.

Fully-imported (CBU - India), available via Naza Eastern Motors (Suzuki local distributor) is one variant (Jimny 5-Door).

Priced (OTR, w/o insurance) at MYR 199,950, included is a three-year/100,000 KM manufacturer’s warranty.

Two-tone exterior colours (Black roof - Sizzling Red Metallic, Chiffon Ivory Metallic). Single-tone exterior colours (Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, Granite Gray Metallic). 

Cost option (Black roof - MYR 2,500, Metallic - MYR 1,500).

The all-new Jimny 5-Door has a highly-sculpted and three-tiered dashboard, linked to a low-rising centre console (two gear shifters).

Commanding the layout are the centre/driver display setups (infotainment, instrument cluster), air-conditioning vents (centre, corners) and grab handle (passenger).

Inclusively, the cockpit is ergonomic with the accessibilities purposefully-arranged (driver-centric, user-friendly).

Protruding and squared-off, installed is an analogue (tachometer, speedometer) instrument cluster display.

High-quality and comfortable, the four-seater’s interior is upholstered in fabric (Black, patterned seams).

The front gets manual-operated seats (driver, passenger) with a walk-in mechanism (passenger). The rear gets a full-flat bench seat (50:50 split-single-fold).

Squared-off and symmetrically-sculpted, the exterior complements the minimalistic outlook with sleek-straight-cut lines.

The rear-end sees a fully-flat tailgate (side-hinged - swing-out), thinly-upright D-pillars, and muscular fenders (Black - scratch-resistant).

Accentuations, an aerial, a mounted spare tyre (Black- Jimny cover), a rectangularly-angled bumper (Black - scratch-resistant), and side sills (Black).

Circularly-housed, the head lamps are integrated with the grille’s frame. Installed are LED projector units.

Features are automatic On/Off/high-beam/washer and manual-levelling. Paired is a set of fog lamps (bumper corners).

Rectangularly-housed and bumper-integrated (corners), the tail lamps installed are halogen bulb units.

The side mirrors (Black) are electric-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with manual-dimming (Day/Night). 

Equipped is a set of solid discs (front) and drum leading/trailing (rear) brake system, incorporating a conventional handbrake system (button release).

Fitted is a set of 15-Inch five-twin-spoke (Dark-Metallic-Grey) alloy rims, rubbered-up in 195/80 R15 (front, rear) Bridgestone Dueller H/L all-terrain tyres.

The all-new Jimny 5-Door features the following safety systems. Incorporated are Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill-Hold Control, and Hill-Descent Control.

Passive safety includes six airbags (driver, passenger, front side, front curtain), seatbelts (anchors, reminders, pre-tensioners), ISOFIX (anchors - outer rear), cruise control, side impact beams, door ajar warning, parking sensors (four - rear), parking camera (reverse), pedal release system, shift lock/key interlock, and immobiliser. 

Three Off-road modes. 2H (two-wheel drive - high), 4H (four-wheel drive - high), and 4L (four-wheel drive - low).

Installed is a 9.0-Inch OEM touchscreen infotainment display, supporting Bluetooth, USB, AUX, radio and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (wired).

The all-new Jimny 5-Door harbours a 1.5-Litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC petrol engine (K15B), producing 100 HP (75 KW) at 6,000 RPM and 130 NM at 4,000 RPM.

Fitted is a four-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.

Power is sent to all four wheels, via a part-time Four-Wheel Drive (4WD – Suzuki ALLGRIP PRO) system with a low-range transfer box (2H, 4H, 4L). 

Further aiding the drive is an Electronic Brake Actuated Limited-Slip Differential (Brake LSD) setup.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is 17.2 seconds and top speed is 140 KM/H. 

Fuel tank capacity is at 40-Litres, and fuel consumption figure reads at 6.8 L/100 KM.

Overall, the ride quality is firm, agile and well-balanced. An adequate daily-driver, as well as an off-roader.

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. Featured is a laminated windscreen (front), and tempered glass (window - side, rear).
