Volkswagen Arteon

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia Sdn Bhd has introduced the Volkswagen Arteon R-Line in 2020, with a price tag of RM 225,490, excluding insurance and sales tax exemption.

The Volkswagen Arteon R-Line was offered in five colours, namely the Manganese Grey, Pyrite Silver, Turmeric Yellow and two pearl-effect colours, Deep Black and Oryx White Pearl. All Arteon R-Line comes with 3 years of free maintenance, 5-years of unlimited warranty and roadside assistance.

The dashboard design maintained the same as most of the other Volkswagen models. It portrays modern and elegant, with solid materials used.

Features Volkswagen's digital cockpit that showcases the 11.7-inch digital instrument cluster.

It comes with 14-way powered adjusted front seats with lumbar support and memory functions for the driver. It is finished in Nappa Carbon.

Plentiful of space up front and behind. All occupants have no problems with headroom and legroom.

Standard size glove compartment with cooling functions. It can easily put in a compact DSLR camera. The armrest compartment is more than enough to put half a dozen of name cards.

There are 2 cup holders in front next to the armrest and 2 more at the rear passenger armrest. There are a total of 4 bottle holders located at each of the door panels.

One 12-Volt power socket located near the front armrest and two USB C charging ports, one located at the centre console and another located in the centre armrest compartment.

Like all Volkswagen, the built quality is solid, with a premium feel, thanks to the good quality material used.

With 563 litres of boot space, it is enough to fit in a few golf bags to bring you friends for a friendly golf session.

Measuring in at a length of 4,862 mm, a width of 1,871 mm, a height of 1,450 mm, a wheelbase of 2,837 mm and weigh at 1,748 kg. It has about 66 litres of fuel tank capacity.

The front of the Arteon looks elegant, stylish and dynamic, with the LED headlamps lines gracefully flowing with its grille, giving an impression that the LED headlamps and grille are one piece.

The rear looks striking from a distance, up close, it looks tidy, clean and classy. It features two-piece LED tail lamps and trapezoidal tailpipes, as well as a black rear spoiler.

Fitted with LED headlamps with sequential indicators, it certainly gives very clear indications to other road users when the signal indicator lights up.

The slim two-piece LED tail lamps with sequential indicators gives a modern touch to the Arteon.

The side mirrors have turn indicators, 360 degree’s cameras, which are powered adjusted and folded.

Running on the 19-inch Montevideo turbine-style two-tone alloy wheels.

The Arteon is fitted with an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, anti-skid regulator, driver alert system, electronic differential lock, electronic stability control, 360 camera and hill hold control.

Its passive safety includes seven airbags, a three-point safety belt with pre-tensioners, and ISOFIX child seat points.

There are drive modes to adjust the Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive dampers.

It comes with the 9.2-inch Discover Pro touchscreen infotainment system with navigation functions.

The Arteon gets the ‘Dynaudio Confidence’ 11 speakers plus 700w subwoofer premium sound system.

Shares the same engine as the Passat, which is the 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 187 hp from 4,180 to 6,000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,180 rpm.

The Arteon gets the seven-speed DSG wet dual-clutch transmission, which changes gear smoothly and quickly.

Power is sent to the front wheels.

The Arteon has a 0 – 100 km/h record of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 239 km/h.

Its fuel consumption rating is recorded at 6.3 l/100km (WLTP).

It has functions like the 3-zones climatronic air-conditioning, powered tailgate with hands-free function, and keyless entry with the push start button.

The rear air vent for the rear occupant is located behind the front centre armrest.

The Arteon has one of the most comfortable and stable ride qualities.

The cabin of the Arteon is very quiet, with most wind noise, tyre noise and engine sound isolated.

The Arteon is a good looking, powerful and comfortable premium sedan that is suited for the young executive that wants something different from the Japanese and Korean cars, which gives them excellent handling and driving dynamics. The design will surely be an eye-catcher.
