Bentley Kuala Lumpur recently delivered the last W12-powered Bentayga Speed in Malaysia

Bentley Kuala Lumpur bids farewell to the iconic W12 engine today, as the firm delivers the final unit of the W12-powered Bentley Bentayga Speed in Malaysia. This swansong model follows Bentley Motor’s decision to discontinue said 12-pot mill, which is part of the marque’s Beyond 100 strategy to fully-electrify its model lineup by the next decade.

Bentley Bentayga Speed W12

Touted as the most powerful Bentayga ever made, the Bentayga Speed W12 is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 petrol mill originally developed by Volkswagen Group to deliver a staggering 635 PS and 900 NM. With this much power at its disposal, the Bentayga Speed can waft from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.9 seconds, en route to its equally-impressive 306 KM/H V-max.

In spite of harnessing this much power, the Bentayga Speed still retains Bentley’s finesse ride comfort, courtesy of the marque’s proprietary Dynamic Ride anti-roll system that helps to stabilise the cabin even when the car is cornering. This is complemented by both the Torsen all-wheel drive (AWD) and advanced all-wheel steering systems, with both of them providing a perfect balance between sheer drive dynamics and refined ride comfort.

This final Bentayga Speed W12 comes with the Blackline Specification package

On the visual front, this final W12-powered Bentayga in Malaysia has been equipped with the Blackline Specification, which essentially swaps the standard chrome finishes on several exterior parts like the front grille to gloss black ones. This is complemented by its dark-tinted LED headlights, as well as the 22-inch gloss black-hued alloy wheels with massive red brake callipers hiding beneath them.

As standard, the Bentayga Speed is offered with up to 17 standard colourways, on top of the 47 provided by both the Extended and Mulliner ranges, as well as 24 two-toned options.

On board, the Bentayga Speed is laced with exquisite Alcantara wrapping on the steering wheel, headliner, pillars, as well as the seat cushions. Speaking of seats, all four of them come standard with Speed embroidery, while said Alcantara trim is mated with a more plush diamond-quilted leather upholstery courtesy of the Mulliner Driving Specification package.

Aside from the seats, the same finish can also be seen on the Bentayga’s door cards. Both the plush leather and suede-like material are laced with several carbon fibre trims, giving some sporty edge to this otherwise ultra-luxurious cabin.

With the W12 engine set to be phased out by next year, future Bentley models will be offered with several partially-electrified hybrid options

Orders for the W12-powered Bentley Bentayga Speed were officially closed back in July 2023, with the whole production of the W12 mill set to cease later in April 2024. By that time, over 100,000 examples of this iconic twelve-pot mill had been rolled out of Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England.

With the iconic W12 mill set to be retired next year, Bentley is poised to revamp its lineup with a slew of electrified hybrid powertrain options, possibly followed by an all-electric version some time in the near future.
