ASEAN’s Largest Tesla Supercharger Station Opened In Gamuda Cove

Tesla Malaysia officially opened the ASEAN region's largest Tesla Supercharger Station located at Gamuda Cove, Selangor, earlier today.


The ASEAN region’s largest Tesla Supercharger Station has officially opened at Gamuda Cove, Selangor earlier today. More accurately, this station established Tesla Malaysia is located in the car park area of Discovery Park off of Persiaran Cove Central.

The facility was officially opened in the presence of HRH Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah, along with Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

Dignitaries present today to launch the facility include Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (left), and HRH Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah (right).


Present at this facility are both the usual Tesla charger types – Destination Chargers and Tesla Superchargers. In total, the facility houses no less than 6 Tesla Superchargers plus 18 Destination Chargers, bringing its total  to 24 points at this single location.

As usual, the Tesla Superchargers primed at the newly opened Gamuda Cove station can dispense up to 250 kW. According to Tesla Malaysia, these are accessible throughout the day with no additional parking charges levied.

The new Tesla Supercharger Station site at Gamuda Cove houses 6 Tesla Superchargers in total. Dispensing up to 250 kW, these are accessible throughout the day and costs RM1.25/kWh.


Also unchanged is the usual RM1.25/kWh charging fee and RM4/minute idle fee (when the Supercharging Station is 100%) that Tesla Malaysia levy its users at for which. The latter is implemented as a deterrent against station hogging.

As for the Destination Chargers, access to which remains exclusive for Tesla owners at no cost (FREE) until further notice. Each of the 18 points for which present here dispenses up to 11 kW.

At today’s launch event, Tesla Malaysia notes that this station, borne out of its collaboration with developers and premise owners Gamuda Land, represents a step forward in enhancing overall accessibility and convenience for EV charging in the area.

Present at this new site too are 18 Tesla Destination Chargers. Access to these are limited exclusively to Tesla owners for free until further notice.

To date, Tesla Malaysia sees its charging network consists of 7 Supercharger Stations powered by 36 Superchargers in total.


Following the Gamuda Cove Tesla Supercharging Station’s official opening earlier today, Tesla Malaysia now sees its local charging network grow further. It now comprises of 7 Supercharger Stations offering a combined total of 36 Superchargers.

The same network now sees 9 Destination Chargers sites nationwide, altogether providing 55 charging points in total too.

In regards to its network still, Tesla Malaysia also reiterated its plans to expand it further. Five more locations for which are being planned and it includes Pahang state capital of Kuantan, Penang’s Prai district, Putrajaya, plus two more unnamed locations in Kuala Lumpur.
