Perodua Plans To Boost Exports By 79% This Year, Expands Line-Up In Brunei Too

Perodua announced recently that it is eyeing up to boost its overseas exports by 79% this year.
National automaker Perodua intends to export 1,960 units this year, marking a 79% increase from 1,094 units it exported in 2023. This was confirmed by the automaker in its recent press statement issued this week.
“We foresee 2024 to be the first year of our export expansion as we are now at a point where the Malaysian automotive ecosystem would be able to cope with the ever-growing demand of our vehicles both within and outside the country,” said Perodua President and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad via the statement mentioned.

On the subject of exports, Perodua recently expanded in neighbouring Brunei with the latest-generation Alza MPV (left) and Axia supermini (right).
He also adds that the vendors will have more opportunities to enhance their sales volume in tandem with the requirement for spare parts as a result of the planned increase in exports. Speaking of which, Perodua also noted in the same statement of its recent expansion in neighbouring Brunei recently with two new models.
Starting May this year, the automaker has begun marketing both the latest-generation Alza MPV and Axia supermini in Brunei. Whilst the Alza is sold in both range-topping AV and mid-range H grades, the Axia is marketed there in range-topping AV and entry-level G grades instead.

Both the DNGA-based Alza (top) and Axia (bottom) are offered in range-topping AV grade in Brunei. Next to them are the mid-specced H and entry-level G variants respectively too.
As for prices, Perodua tags the new Alza at B$30,900 (AV) and B$27,900 (H), whilst the smaller-sized Axia hatch commands B$21,900 (AV) and B$17,900 (G). This effort sees Perodua aiming to shift 40 and 120 units, respectively.
Perodua also noted that it has been exporting cars for sale to Brunei for sometime now. Besides the new Alza and Axia models mentioned, the automaker has also marketed the Bezza compact sedan there in its base 1.0G form priced at B$16,900.

Perodua also markets the Bezza compact sedan in 1.0G form in neighbouring Brunei. (Note: Bezza 1.3 AV pictured).
Altogether, Perodua has targeted to shift 460 cars in total to Brunei this year. The Bezza 1.0G is expected to make up the bulk of which as the firm saw 300 units of which sold there in 2023.
“Brunei is the first export market we are expanding to without compromising domestic allocation of our vehicles. In fact, we have significantly reduced the waiting period for most of our popular models and even have ready stock for selected models,” remarked Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin further. KR
