The all-new BMW M4 GT3 EVO breaks cover ahead of its racing debut in 2025.
Besides the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Mk 8.5 hot-hatch, BMW has also taken center stage at last week’s 24 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race to unveil the latest version of its flagship GT3 race car, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. This new M4 race car will hit the race tracks starting next year, where it has undergone a series of modifications to make it more potent than its predecessor.
Starting with the exterior, the new M4 GT3 EVO is ‘painted’ using the cathodic dip coating method that BMW claims to be lighter than using the conventional painting method. Also present here are a slew of minor design changes, including the smaller wing mirrors, bigger air intakes on the front wheel arches, a tweaked GT-style rear wing, as well as the updated lighting units derived from its recently-facelifted road-going twin.
Besides the aero and design tweaks, the new M4 GT3 EVO also gains a slew of mechanical changes.
As for the performance upgrades, BMW M engineers have fitted the new M4 GT3 EVO with new anti-roll bars on both the front and rear axles, larger rear brake rotors, and a new racing differential that is not only easier to adjust by drivers but also provides less tyre and brake wear. Powertrain-wise, the new M4 GT3 EVO still uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six mill as the previous model, which is mated to an X-Trac 6-speed sequential shift transmission to deliver 590 HP.
While minor, these performance improvements are derived from feedback from BMW racing customers on the previous M4 GT3 race car, according to BMW M Motorsport head of customer racing, Björn Lellmann.
“Our engineers have listened very carefully to the feedback from our customers during the development of the EVO cars,” Lellmann said.
“The result, in our view, are models that make it even more possible to be consistently close to the limit without taking too much risk, exactly what drivers of all classes need to be fast. Our goal is to win the very big races with our BMW M4 GT3 EVO and, at the same time, provide every BMW M Motorsport customer with a package that offers maximum chances of success.”
Set to make its racing debut for the 2025 season, the all-new BMW M4 GT3 EVO will set privateer racing teams back at an eye-watering figure of €578,000 (RM2.95 million).
The all-new 2025 BMW M4 GT4 EVO was also revealed alongside the new M4 GT3 EVO.
Besides the top-class M4 GT3 EVO, BMW has also revealed the new BMW M4 GT4 EVO, which benefits from the same new lighting units as its more potent sibling while draped in unique ‘Inception’ design livery that incorporates the BMW M brand’s three main colourways.
