The Volkswagen Tiguan R achieves the century sprint in 4.9 seconds
Volkswagen has released information on the new Tiguan R, and it’s faster against the FK8 Civic Type R on the Suzuka Circuit! It will also do the century sprint in 4.9 seconds like the Mk7.5 Golf R.
The Tiguan R is powered by the latest version of the EA888 Evo4 engine, the 2.0 turbocharged lump pumps out 320hp and 420Nm, 40Nm more than the Mk7.5 Golf R. To put all that power to 4 wheels, Volkwagen offers a 7-speed DSG transmission and a 6-speed manual - interesting.
VW’s 4MOTION system is in place to distribute power between the front and rear axles. When the need arises, it will also apportion the drive between the left and right wheels. There’s a blue R button on the steering wheel that sets the car to its sportiest.
In August 2020, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia launched the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, a 5+2 SUV in 2 flavours, Highline and R-Line. The former has a 220hp, 350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged power plant while the latter comes with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine pumping out 150hp and 250Nm.
Of course, the Tiguan is not a new name in Malaysia, the first-generation was launched back in 2008, and there are still a few examples to be found on the used car market.
