- MCO Updated – What We Know So Far
The government has updated the new phase of movement control orders (MCO) that is set to take place on February 19, 2021 to March 4, 2021.
Some states have been placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order, while some remained the same. However, there are some restrictions that have been slightly relaxed.
Areas that are still remained under the MCO includes Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang. While the states and federal territories that had been moved into CMCO are Putrajaya, Labuan, Kedah, Perak, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
At the same time, Sarawak’s CMCO has been extended from February 15, to March 1. Meanwhile, Perlis has been placed under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase.
Regarding the ease of restrictions, the government has removed the 10km radius of travel limit ruling for all MCO, CMCO and RMCO areas.
However, interstate and inter-district travels are not permitted, except for Klang Valley. For example, Petaling Jaya to Kuala Lumpur, Ampang to Kuala Lumpur, Kajang to Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya to Kuala Lumpur and so on.
On top of that, for the areas under MCO, the government maintained its decision on dine-in are allowed to limited of 2 person a table and tables must be one-metre apart, as well as a maximum of two pax (a driver and a passenger) a vehicle, and a maximum of three pax (a driver and two passengers) for taxi and e-hailing services.
Moving towards the areas placed under CMCO, dine-ins are allowed according to the shop’s capacity and must be at least one-metre of physical distancing. This means that more than 2 people can sit at a table, but they must be a metre apart.
Apart from that, spa and reflexology centres are allowed to operate. Economic sector can operate from 6am to midnight 12am.
The government also removed the two-person per car limit and allowed the number of passengers according to the vehicle’s capacity. This means a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) can carry a total of seven people. Please take note that over capacity can and will be stopped for violating road ordinances.
That’s not all, weddings, birthdays, ‘doa selamat’, social gatherings, meetings, MICE, workshops and seminars are allowed and can be held with its attendance limited to 50 percent of the venue’s capacity.
As for Perlis, it is the only state that will observe the standard operating procedures under the RMCO. At press time, there are no updates on RMCO procedures. Stay tuned to Caricarz for more updates.
