Stricter SOPs This MCO - Will It Affect The Local Automotive Sales?
Following the increase in Covid-19 cases that have been out of control lately, the government has taken precautionary measures by implementing the Movement Control Order (MCO) which came into force on 25 May.
For this time's MCO, there are no operational barriers for any sector of the economy, however, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being tightened to curb the spread of virus, including for the automotive industry. One of the general SOPs is that business premises must adhere to the operating hours from 8 am to 8 pm.
Based on this latest SOP, the opening of distribution premises are allowed, but only for sales, service and spare parts centers only (3S).
Distributors are also encouraged to establish an appointment system or any appropriate activity online. Activities that involve touch, such as test drive sessions in the showroom, are not allowed.
