In order to take more preventive measures during the Covid-19 pandemic, more carmakers in the industry have come up with enhanced technology to fight the spread of the virus.

Companies such as Jaguar Land Rover have revealed using prototypes such as Panasonic's Nanoe X technology to create cabin air purification technology that is said to be able to eliminate Covid.

Recently, Japanese carmaker Honda Motor Co. Ltd  has already introduced to the market a cabin air filter that is able to contain viruses and harmful germs in order to make sure individuals who have not been vaccinated are not exposed to the Covid-19 virus.

The Honda’s premium cabin air filter was set in motion between an alliance with Freudenberg and will be available as a new genuine spare part and will be able to substitute the standard pollen filter.

This filter is inclusive of a distinctive four-layer design that is able to successfully filter, contain and suppress harmful environmental gases as well as inorganic and biological particles and aerosols.

The first two layers are made of microfibre that is able to capture dust and pollen. As for the third layer, it is made of activated carbon that absorbs poisonous particulates and acid gases. However, the fourth layer is a layer coated with fruit extracts which helps to kill these viral aerosols and avoid the contamination of the cabin air.

According to the company, the air filter is able to capture more than 90 percent of viral aerosols and stops 100 percent of them, also including Covid-19.

"As society is now more aware than even of the impact of germs and viruses such as Covid-19, we expect the demand for protective solutions to increase rapidly. This premium cabin air filter is a great example of Honda working together rapidly with its suppliers to deliver a product of real benefit that improves the health and safety of driver and occupants," said Honda Access Europe president, Eiichi Hino.

The Honda premium cabin air filter is currently available in European markets and customers who are interested will be able to install the filter at their local dealers. Not only that, the filter is compatible with all recent Honda models which include the Civic, Accord and CR-V.

However, The company has not announced the availability of the premium air filter in other parts of the world.
