The Electric Super Truck, GMC’s New 2024 Hummer EV SUV

GMC has expanded its electric super truck lineup with the super-fast, super-strong and super-tech new 2024 Hummer EV SUV.

The brand will be offering the Hummer EV SUV in a total of four variants, they are Hummer EV2, Hummer EV2X, Hummer EV3X and Hummer Edition 1. Its production will be expected to roll off the assembly line in early 2023.

Pricing wise, the EV2 variant is tagged at US$ 79,995, EV2X at US$ 89,995, EV3X at US$ 99,995 and the Edition 1 at US$ 105,595 or with the optional Extreme Off-Road Package at US$ 110,595.

Hummer EV’s chief engineer Al Oppenheiser said, “GMC’s HUMMER EV SUV offers an exceptional balance of on-road performance and off-road capability, enhanced by a unique structure that allows for our signature open-air experience. New features debuting on the SUV reinforce its role as a tactical tool in almost any situation.”

Exterior wise, on the front, the iconic Hummer grille can be seen with a new modernized design which now features an integrated headlight bar. Along with another new feature, which is the Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels and I-Bar.

Other signature touches have also been adopted from its predecessor, such as the wheels, the optional tow hooks, the square body shape, and the mounted spare tire in the back.

However, exclusive for the Hummer Edition 1, it will be debuting a new GMC color called the ‘Moonshot Green Matte’. Moving forward, this matte hue will later be made available on other SUV trims and also the previously released, Hummer EV Pickup.

As for the stance, the SUV has a wheelbase that is standing at 20-inches shorter overall compared to the Hummer EV Pickup. This slightly smaller build gives the SUV superior departure and breakover angles along with a tighter 35.4-foot turning radius.

Moving into the interior, the technology has been developed by Perception, a creative agency best known for their work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therefore, the EV truck’s premium interior system will feature an immersive graphic experience like no other.

Occupants will get to experience these new graphics on a 13.4-inch slanting infotainment screen and also for the driver, a 12.3-inch slanting driver information center display.

It comes packing with some high-tech functions, such as an in-vehicle energy app, digital key, HD surround vision and off-road widgets. Furthermore, the most important feature of all is the enhanced ‘Super Cruise’, which is standard on all trim levels.

Performance side, the Hummer EV is built with a new all-electric Ultium Drive platform that is able to produce up to 830 hp. The company claims that it will offer proficient off-road performance mixed with on-road luxury.

Being called a super truck is not an understatement, as even the slowest variants the EV2 and EV2X are being included with two electric motors that can produce an output of up to 625 hp and 10,033 Nm of torque.

Furthermore, for the EV2 it comes with 16 battery modules that can last up to about over 250 miles (402 km) of range, while the EV2X it gets 20 battery modules which are good for more than 300 miles (483 km).

Taking it up a notch with the EV3X and Edition 1 variants, three electric motors have been installed. It produces an output of 830 hp and 15,592 Nm of torque that also gets about over 300 miles (483 km) of range and can dash from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5-seconds.

Charging capabilities, the Hummer EV SUV comes with an 800-volt DC public fast-charging function. It has a capability of up to 300 kW of output. Also included is a new feature that switches the batteries from parallel to series mode while plugged in.

Apart from that, for full practicality, the batteries have been integrated into the floor to compensate for the Hummer EV SUV’s interior space. The boot, with the rear seats folded, has a capacity of 2,316-litres and it also features additional storage underneath the floor and within the side trim.

In addition to the massive boot space, the Hummer EV SUV also incorporates a ‘frunk’ into its built. Also, it combines functionality and style well with the tailgate, as it is power operated and it opens up automatically like a vault.

On that note, the company claims that the Hummer EV SUV has a rear opening measuring up to 48-inches and thus making the loading and unloading process a breeze. Plus, with the rear glass located at the back that can slide down adds for greater flexibility.
