- JPJ Collects RM3.1 Million From Summons!
No, it’s not what you think! The Road Transport Department is not making a profit but instead collecting RM3.1 million in summons that you paid recently!
A good number of individuals did not miss the opportunity to pay their traffic summons after JPJ offered a discount of 70 percent.
The discount was first offered on April 13 and will end on June 13. However, although the discount period has around another month to go, JPJ has already managed to collect RM3.1 million as of last Saturday.
JPJ Director General, Datuk Zailani Hashim stated that the largest amount collected was in Selangor, which came up to RM548,910 or 7,871 summonses.
This was followed by the collection of summons in Johor that came up to RM343,605 involving 4,911 summonses, while Pahang was at RM311,874 (4,413 summonses).
However, for those who have not yet settled their JPJ summons, you still have the opportunity to do so before June 13.
Zailani said the 70 per cent discount offer was given to all summonses issued for offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act (Act 334), the Land Public Transport Act (Act 715), including cases that are still blacklisted.
On the other hand, the public is advised to make payments online through the JPJ portal as some states are already under the Movement Control Order.
What are you waiting for? Don’t forget to pay your summons before the discount date ends!
