Reshaped With Cutting-Edge Technologies, Toyota Introduces The Land Cruiser 300 Series!
Toyota Motor Corporation recently announced the launch of its new Land Cruiser on August 2.
Debuting in August 1951, the Toyota Land Cruiser was initially known as the "Toyota BJ." Throughout its 70 year existence, the model has evolved to fit the wants and needs of consumers.
It has reached a cumulative total of approximately 10.6 million units that customers cherish in 170 countries and regions worldwide.
The new Land Cruiser has been completely redesigned and now comes with a newly developed high-mount double-wishbone front and trailing-link rigid-axle rear suspension system.
Equipped as standard on both the ZX and GR Sport variants is the new Linear Solenoid Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) System.
Following that, coming as standard on the ZX, GR Sport, and VX variants are a hydraulic power steering with steering actuator and an electronic control brake.
Another feature that improves steering stability and manoeuvrability is the Torsen® Limited Slip Differential (LSD), which is standard on the ZX grade.
As for support for off-road driving, there is a Multi-Terrain Select where drivers can choose between six modes; Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, and Rock. Not only that, this function is now catered to a broader range of off-road situations as the operational capacity has been expanded to the high-range H4 mode.
In regards to that, also included is a Multi-Terrain Monitor, which is a system that uses four cameras to aid the driver in checking the conditions around the vehicle. The cameras are placed at the front, rear and both sides of the vehicle.
Also included is a 12.3-inch display (a manufacturer's option) with an off-road display function that displays inclinometer data, locking differential engagement, accelerator and brake work, as well as other information on a large screen.
The new Land Cruiser comes in two powertrain options: the 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 409 hp and 650 Nm of torque. As for the 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine, it has a maximum output of 305 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
Exterior-wise, the vehicle maintains its length (depending on the variant) and wheelbase length. However, both the radiator grille and the headlights are now positioned high-up, as well as the lower parts of both front, and rear bumpers are shaped to avoid obstacles.
A new exterior colour called the Precious White Pearl is also available.
As for the interior, changes include front seats that have been shifted rearward, and the structure and positioning of the second and third rows have been revised—not forgetting that the third row of seats can be retracted into the floor for more effortless luggage loading and unloading.
The model’s horizontal instrument panel uses six needles monitors to verify conditions - of speed, rpm, fuel, water temperature, oil pressure and voltage - even in harsh road conditions.
On top of that, an optimally positioned dial is used to select Drive Mode, Multi-Terrain, Down Hill Assist Control and Crawl Control. Switches are grouped according to type: driving and drive torque systems; audio systems; and air-conditioning systems.
Other interior highlights include both front and second-row heated seats and ventilation, a cool box for foods and beverages, and nanoeTM *4 X released from the driver's side air outlet on the instrument panel.
Did you know that the new Land Cruiser has a high-resolution 12.3-inch widescreen touch display and can memorise up to three personalised vehicle settings? This includes driving position, interior settings, and display settings.
Also included for the owner’s convenience is a Hands-Free Back Door that allows drivers carrying a Smart Key to open and close the back door of the vehicle automatically.
Security features include a Start switch with fingerprint authentication for the first time on a Toyota vehicle. To start the car, the driver must carry the Smart Key, press on the brake pedal, and touch the fingerprint sensor in the centre of the start switch.
If the fingerprint does not match one of the fingerprints registered to the vehicle, the engine does not start.
As for safety, two functions have been added to the pre-collision system. This includes a function that detects oncoming vehicles at intersections and oncoming pedestrians crossing the street when the vehicle is turning in either direction and an emergency steering assist function.
Other safety features include a parking support brake, plus support, a camera wash function, blind-spot monitoring, and ITS Connect.
In case you didn’t know, the GR Sport variant receives exclusive features!
Among the exclusive exterior features include a special radiator grille, special front bumper, special rear bumper, exclusive wheel arch moulding (Black), rear Toyota emblem (Acrylic + Black), special rear mudguards, 18-inch aluminum wheels (Mud Grey color), special emblem (front / side / rear), special lower back door decals, special rocker moldings (Black), special vehicle name emblem (Black color), outdoor side door handles (Black), and door mirrors (Black).
