Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. premiered the U.S-market version of the all-new Nissan Z sports car in New York last month.
The all-new seventh-generation Z is expected to sell in the United States of America in the second quarter of next year.
With more than 50 years of history, the Z has sold more than 1.8 million units globally, making it a global top-selling sports car.
“For us at Nissan, the Z is part of who we are and represents years of our commitment to customers. Through the Z, we bring the latest sports car design, performance and excitement to as many people as we can,” said its chief operating officer and chief performance officer Ashwani Gupta in a statement.
The all-new Nissan Z is expected to be available in two variants and one limited edition variant – Sport, Performance, and the limited to 240 units Proto Spec.
All three variants are powered by the all-new Z is; the 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo engine is capable to generate 400 hp and 475 Nm of torque at 5,600 rpm.
The engine can be paired to the 6-speed manual transmission or the 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. All transmissions will come with an advanced launch assist control system, giving a smooth acceleration from a stopped position. There are two drive modes – Standard and Sport, available for automatic transmission.
Some of the available equipment includes the carbon-fibre composite driveshaft and downshift rev matching for the manual transmission only, mechanical clutch-type limited-slip differential, LED headlamps, 3D signature LED taillamps, rear spoiler, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three analogue pod gauges, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and many more.
The all-new Z is available in three monotone exterior colours and six two-tone exterior colours, including two new colours, Seiran Blue and Ikazuchi Yellow – both with a Super Black roof. They are coupled with three interior colours – Graphite, Red and Blue. The limited-edition Proto Spec will feature yellow accents throughout the cabin.
At press time, the price of the all-new Nissan Z has not been revealed, and it is expected to be announced next year.
“For more than 50 years, the Z has been an accessible dream sports car. Its timeless appeal is the result of the ongoing passion and dedication of countless employees, working to deliver the thrill of the Z to past and future generations,” said Gupta.
