- Mercedes-Benz Revealing 2022 S-Class Model
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has debuted its new flagship vehicle, the S-Class model, and a locally assembled benchmark for luxury limousines. The price of new Mercedes-Benz S 580 e will be announce anytime soon.
The revamped model features a new generation of plug-in hybrid with an inline 6-cylinder engine that allows owners to drive it on battery power alone and the combustion engine.
This vehicle can perform the century sprint in just 5.2 seconds thanks to the 3.0-litre engine and 9G-Tronic transmission and a hybrid electric motor that provides the S 580 e with an estimated 100km pure electric driving range.
It also offers 362 hp from 5,500 to 6,100 rpm and 500 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm. Utilising a 147 hp and 480 Nm electric motor, the combined system output is rated at 502 hp and 750 Nm.
Through a three-phase wall box charger, the S 580 e has an onboard charger with an 11-kW capacity, which takes two to 2.5 hours to charge until the battery reaches up to 80 percent capacity. The car also supports a fast charge of up to 60 kW, charging the battery from flat to full in 30 minutes.
The bodywork of the S-Class gives a high-status radiator grille that dominates the front section. As a classical saloon, the S-Class has a short front overhang, a long wheelbase and rides on 19-inch multi-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. The model also uses AIRMATIC Air Suspension with Adaptive Controller.
Mercedes-Benz S 580 e headlamps are using DIGITAL LIGHTS with three powerful LEDs directed by 1.3 million micros to deliver 2.6 million pixels of resolution. This way, it allows highly precise light dissemination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist to be 100 times more accurate than 84 pixels when excluding oncoming traffic or road signs from the light beam.
The new S-Class model interior space offers modern luxury and ambience characterised by lightness, elegance, and high quality. For example, the car’s dashboard is one of the highlights with its ergonomic display arrangement, and yacht design elements inspire its digital cluster.
As for the seats have to flow, and the three-dimensional layer design theme gives an impression of lightness with its Nappa leather upholstery which is a new feature added. The heat-able additional cushion for the head restraint is a unique feature added, which has two electrically adjustable rear seats.
The screen display can be customised with four display styles: Discreet, Sporty, Exclusive, Classic. The Malaysian model offers a 12.8-inch OLED portrait display, while the instrument cluster measures a 12.3-inch display with a 3D effect. There are three modes available - Navigation, Assistance and Service.
Meanwhile, with the second generation MBUX, the S-Class consists of Fingerprint Scanner, MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation which connects the virtual world with the real world, MBUX Interior Assist, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 7.0-inch MBUX rear tablet, High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System, two-wireless headsets, MB Connect MBUX entertainment, Voice Assistant and Burmester 3D surround sound system with 16 speakers.
Mercedes introduces the world's first rear airbags for severe frontal collisions. These cushions protect strapped-in passengers from contact. The Driving Assistance Package includes the safety features also have a PRE-SAFE Impulse Side designed to work with seat belts. The side-impact airbags and windows airbags will be activated when encountered in a dangerous situation.
Also, it has Break-in resistant heat- and noise-insulated laminated safety glass all around, 13 airbags, belt bags, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and an Anti-theft alarm system with pre-installation for collision detection.
