Perodua Ending Its Alza Production Soon?

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (PERODUA) has announced that the production of Perodua Alza will be continued until this April.

The matter was confirmed personally by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad at the PERODUA 2022 projection press conference recently.

"Based on the initial planning, Alza's production actually wants to stop this January," he said.

Therefore, Perodua had to extend the production of Alza for another three months due to the Movement Control Order (PKP) and the floods that hit the country at the end of last year.

Perodua stated that Alza had to be stopped because it did not comply with exhaust emissions laws after the government shifted from a Euro 2 rating to Euro 4 by January 1, 2022.

This means that only the production of vehicles that do not exceed the emission limit should be stopped immediately, while the final stocks can still be sold until exhausted.

Alza will be replaced with another MPV based on the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform which has been getting lots of attention since last year.

Currently, the new MPV development project is known by code D27A and a twin to the Daihatsu Xenia and Toyota Avanza.

According to several international media, it was already launched in Indonesia last year. However, Zainal Abidin said, his party could not confirm the launch date of the latest model.

There are allegations that the new model replacing Alza will be build more ‘solid’. However, as to whether the allegations are well -founded or not, readers must wait for the next Perodua announcement.

Alza must have its own fans as the sales have reportedly reached 14,828 units so far.
