Nissan To Begin Verification Tests At Its Energy Management System In Fukushima

Following an energy management system in Namie, Fukushima by Nissan, the automaker has also announced that it will soon begin verification tests.

This bold move aligns with Nissan's Ambition 2030 vision, through which the company is supporting the production of energy for local use and aiming to become carbon neutral.

The energy management system will use an autonomous control system to create 100 percent renewable energy for charging electric vehicles and delivering and receiving electricity.

Combining large-capacity EV batteries with a system that independently charges and discharges can tackle the two critical problems faced by renewable energy; fluctuations in power generation caused by weather conditions and an imbalance in electricity supply and demand.

According to the company, the town's five electric vehicles will be charged or discharged depending on the quantity of power generated by solar, wind, and hydrogen fuel cells and the electrical consumption of the town's business facilities.

The system will consider Namie's EVs' battery status and usage habits to identify the best time for recharging and discharging them. According to the manufacturer, the solution might reduce the commercial facility's peak power consumption, lowering electricity expenses.

It has also been reported that the Japanese automaker is looking to partner with local authorities in Japan to push its net-zero goal after establishing a partnership with trading giant Sumitomo Corp.

According to a Bloomberg story, the company plans to collaborate with local governments in Japan to help them become carbon-free. To cut emissions across multiple segments, particularly in the mobility sector, the corporations will engage with local governments to promote electric vehicles, renewable energy, and car-sharing systems for citizens and local businesses.
