The brand’s highly successful and award-winning fully-electric midsize CUV, Hyundai Motor presents the Ioniq 5, upgraded with new features to better the driving experience.

Introduction of the 2023 model year comes updated with new video based digital mirrors, new battery conditioning, Smart Frequency Dampers and a new 77.4-kWh battery.

Hyundai Motor Europe’s vice president of marketing and product, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, remarked, “Ioniq 5 has proved to be highly successful in the 12 months since its launch, both in terms of sales and brand building. The segment is growing increasingly competitive, and we will be offering enhanced features to defend our position as technology leader in the automotive industry.”

To begin with, the updated Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a video-based digital interior and exterior mirrors, which is a first of its kind.

Notably, the exterior Digital Centre Mirror (DCM) camera that is installed below the Ioniq 5’s rear spoiler, optimises visibility by providing an unobstructed, panoramic rear-facing view of the car.

Along with that, the Ioniq 5 also gets interior Digital Side Mirrors (DSM), which reduce air resistance and provide a clear rear view, even in bad weather.

Already available for Korean-spec Ioniq 5 models, this high-tech feature is now slated to be made available in Europe for the first time.

Next, the new battery conditioning feature enables the Ioniq 5 to automatically adapt its battery temperature while travelling.

This is to ensure optimal charging conditions when reaching the charging point and to improve real-life charging performance in cold ambient conditions.

Said function activates automatically when a charging point is entered into the vehicle’s navigation system using connected routing.

Then, the Smart Frequency Dampers (SFD). This function is to improve the response of front and rear axle suspensions to increase ride comfort.

Last but not least, in terms of design, the Ioniq 5 features new combination options. These include non-painted black bumpers with black garnishes and projection LED lighting.

All in all, this updated 2023 German Car of the Year winner will be available to customers in Europe in the second half of 2022.
