Parents Surrendered To Police After Their 10-Year-Old Son Was Caught Driving A Car

A couple surrendered to the Pontian District Police Headquarters (IPD) today, following the viral video of their 10-year-old son driving a car.

Pontian District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib, stated that the Pontian IPD's Investigation and Traffic Control Division (BSPT) discovered video shared by an account on Facebook (FB) on May 10.

According to him, the video showed a boy driving a red Perodua Kancil car with two other children sitting in the front.

"The video is believed to have been recorded by the woman's 11 -year -old daughter using her phone," he said.

As a result of the investigation, the car was driven by his 10 -year -old son along with his two younger brothers, a 6 -year -old girl and a 3 -year -old boy.

Mohammad Shofee, said following the incident, parents and three other children surrendered to the IPD at 10 am today.

He said the mother of the three children admitted that the TikTok account that displayed the video was also hers.

According to him, the investigation was conducted under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

“Parents or guardians who allow children to drive underage vehicles can be prosecuted under Section 33 of the Children Act (AKK) 2001.

"Besides that, the owner of the vehicle can be sued under Section 39 (5) APJ 1987," he added.
