Tesla’s Texas And Germany Factories, Gigantic Money Furnaces Elon Musk Described

Dark times for Tesla, as its new factories in Germany and Texas face billions of dollars in setbacks due to supply chain disruptions and battery shortages.

According to Bloomberg, Elon Musk said supply constraints are the biggest threat to growth for Tesla as he confirmed job cuts of up to 3.5 percent.

In an interview with Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley, Musk said, "Overwhelmingly our concern is, how do we keep the factories operating so we can pay people and not go bankrupt?"

He also stated that pandemic-related shutdowns in China this year had proven to be very difficult for both Tesla's Shanghai factory and other plants elsewhere.

Specifically, the Austin factory was losing an absurd amount of money, as it faced challenges producing Tesla’s new 4680 batteries.

At the same time, said factory was also hurdling production challenges in terms of the tools needed for making its conventional 2170 batteries, which are stuck in China.

Musk concluded, "Both Berlin and Austin factories are gigantic money furnaces right now. It's really like a giant roaring sound, which is the sound of money on fire."
