Designed to project a new and more vibrant appeal to its global consumers, the bold and trendy SUV, OMODA 5, officially launched in China and is now on sale.

It is the first model under Chery’s new OMODA product series, which signifies Chery’s global brand rejuvenation as it sets sights on many other markets worldwide, including Malaysia.

The OMODA 5 packages a youthfully stylish design, an efficiently powerful performance and plenty of intelligent technology features.

Seen for the first time on the OMODA 5, Chery’s new ‘Art in Motion’ design language creatively uses light and shadow to portray the SUV with both static and dynamic balance.

Beautifully, its borderless diamond-cut geometric matrix grille that extends from the middle to both sides of the front end, creates what the brand says a ‘parallel universe’.

Whereas its rear, with the coupe-esque roofline featuring a minimalist spoiler sportily compliments the futuristic light bar that stretches across the middle of the tailgate.

Next, its efficiently powerful performance is courtesy of a 1.6 TGDI engine, which produces 194 hp (197 PS) and 290 Nm of torque.

All power is transferred to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

At the same time, its Super Sport drive mode that comes with a professionally-tuned simulated soundtrack, provides an engaging driving experience.

Last but not least, its industry leading connectivity, in which the OMODA 5 features Chery’s latest-generation ‘Lion 5.0 AI technology smart cockpit’.

Said system has AI emotion monitoring and adjustment, a 24.6-inch screen that supports driving information and infotainment, and a Sony audio setup with 64-colour rhythmic ambient lighting.

Topping that, the SUV gets Chery’s ‘C-Pure’ cabin that gives the occupants clean air through a negative-ion air purification and filtration system.

That said, the OMODA 5’s recent launch in Shenzhen makes China the first market to receive Chery’s new SUV, which has been garnering lots of attention across the globe.
