AC Schnitzer ‘tunes’ the BMW i4 with sportier ride and style

Renowned BMW tuning specialist AC Schnitzer revealed its latest based on the all-electric BMW i4 four-door fastback saloon. In similar fashion as what counterparts Brabus did with the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the ‘tuning’ performed here doesn’t see any increase in power and speed.

Though AC Schnitzer boasts decades worth of experience in tuning BMWs, the firm hasn’t fettled with the BMW i4’s battery electric powertrain at all. Perhaps the firm has yet to master the art of tuning electric vehicles (EVs) for more power and speed just yet.

In other words, this ‘tuning’ effort by AC Schnitzer sees to changes to the i4’s outputs of 281 hp and 400 Nm in eDrive35 form, or the 335 hp and 430 Nm figures boasted by the eDrive40 variant.

Nevertheless, the news isn’t all that bad, especially for those seeking to enhance the i4’s styling and handling. The latter comes courtesy of newly developed sports springs by AC Schnitzer, which lowers the i4 by 20mm up front and 25mm at the rear.

On top of that comes two new five-spoke wheels design the AC4 and AC1. Setting the AC4 apart is its spoke design that taper inward at the rim, and these wheels are available in either a two-tone silver-and-black finish or all black. The AC1, on the other hand, features skinnier dual spokes design instead, and can be in in wither silver-and-anthracite or full-anthracite finishes.

Next comes a myriad of exterior and interior parts. The former includes an extended front splitter, a canard incorporated into an element in the corners of the lower fascia, larger horizontal trim pieces attached to the outlet behind the front wheels, a subtle roof spoiler, as well as an additional carbon fibre rear spoiler and winglets mounted on the corners of the tail.

On board, with AC Schnitzer have readied things like new aluminium pedals and footrest, as well as covers for the iDrive system controller and keyholder.
