In its bid to play a part in lowering carbon emission, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has mandated that the iconic Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) be closed to all forms of motor vehicles every Sunday beginning 28th August 2022.

The road closure will begin from 6am to 12am every Sunday and the entire road will be made exclusively assessable only by pedestrians with various activities being set up along the entire stretch to woe visitors to experience the offerings along the iconic stretch.

Public looking to visit the area are advised to use any convenient public transport available and play a part in contributing to the carbon reduction effort. On top of the Jalan TAR stretch, Simpang Jalan Esfahan heading to Jalan Melayu will also be un-accessible.

Activities that will to be hosted along the stretch would include performance by street musicians/buskers, creative arts demonstrations, handy-craft artists, traditional games and food vendors. Ample seating and shade will be made available to accommodate visitors.
