- The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado now comes in Matte Black
If you’re a fan of both the evergreen fourth-gen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4x4 SUV and shades of Matte Black, then have we got news for you.
Recently launched in Japan, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado ‘Package Matte Black Edition’ stands as a follow up to the 70th Anniversary special edition the Japanese auto giant launched last year.
The Package Matte Black Edition set this Land Cruiser Prado apart from its regular stablemates thanks to the adoption of matte black-finished exterior trims like the grille, headlight accents, roof rails, mirror caps, tailgate accents, and the 18-inch alloy wheels. Other key additions include auto-levelling LED headlights and electric folding mirrors.
On board, this special edition continues its blacked-out motif with its leather upholstery and wood dash trim. Key equipment present include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation and TV functions, plus a 6-speaker audio system.
Adaptive cruise control is standard-equipped, though blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) are cost-options instead. Like its regular siblings, it can be had in either five- or seven-seat layouts across two- or three-rows of seats respectively.
Also unchanged are the Land Cruiser Prado’s two powertrain options, those being a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel with 201 HP and 500 NM, and a 2.7-litre petrol mill with 161 HP and 246 NM. Also unchanged is the lone 6-speed automatic and 4x4 driveline Toyota offers for either.
Predictably, this special edition sports no other changes apart from what we’ve just detailed. Sourced indicate that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Package Matte Black Edition will be the last hurrah for this ageing model – it has been in production since 2009. Toyota is expected to introduce an all-new replacement sometime next year.
In Japan, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Package Matt Black Edition is already available to order where prices stand between ¥4,300,000 (approx. RM143,661.57) and ¥5,118,000 (approx. RM170,990.68) depending on specification.
Are you digging this supposed run-out special of Toyota’s long-standing 4x4 SUV? We reckon it won't take too long for it to land on our shores through local parallel (grey) importers...
