- This Ferrari F40 go kart is too cool for your kids
This is perhaps the coolest ‘toy’ you’ll see today. Meet the F-Racer Junior, which is essentially a go kart for kids that’s been shaped and fashioned to look like the iconic Ferrari F40 supercar, albeit on a smaller scale.
It may be a child’s play-thing, but there’s little in the way of it going under the hammer later this month for serious money, perhaps for an amount far more than most affordable cars on sale today.
This scaled-down homage to the iconic 1980s-era Italian supercar is part of famed auction house RM Sotheby’s and it’s upcoming auction in Monterrey, California this month from 18 to 20 Aug.
Little is known about the F-Racer Junior apart from its Ferrari-inspired exterior design. This near-faithful replication of said iconic Ferrari does miss the mark in several areas (exhaust tip, headlights, and overall scale), but its cool factor is pretty high as far as 'toys' as such go.
Powering the F-Racer Junior is a 270cc gasoline engine that’s mated with a 2:1 reduction gearbox. There are no exact power figures to report, but the mill is reportedly capable of propelling the kart up to speeds of 64 KM/H.
Adding to that is the fact that its chassis features all-around independent suspension plus hydraulic disc brakes. In other words, this kart has the handling hardware to match its rather peppy powertrain.
Other notable features include a removable roof, two seats with functioning seatbelts, turn-key ignition, as well as functioning dials in its dashboard.
All of this ought to justify the estimated price this Ferrari F40-dressed F-Racer Junior kart is expected to command - between US$30,000 to US$40,000 (approx. RM133,632 to RM178,176). Yup, this is one pricey toy indeed!
