300KM Range With 5 Minute Charge Time, Made Possible By Geely's 600kW Charger

Viridi E-mobility Technology (VREMT), a subsidiary of parent company Geely, made headlines once again by pushing the boundaries of rapid EV charging to the next level. It is now offering a charging capacity of 600kW which is a massive improvement from the current available 360kW.

This 600kW charging capability will outshine the upcoming NIO’s 500kW charging capability. What this means to the daily drivers is a charger capable of delivering a 300KM range with just 5-minutes of charging. This will pretty much make EV charging as close to filling up petrol at your local petrol stations.

The Zeekr 001 and 009 will be among the first to utilise CATL's Qilin batteries.

According to VREMT, the high charging capacity was achieved through a breakthrough in the liquid cooling system and the Qilin batteries from CATL, which made news earlier this year. These batteries will be used by new Geely EV models beginning with the upcoming Zeekr 009 MPV and Zeekr 001. Zeekr is a brand under Geely with close DNA to Lynk & Co. It is announced that the Zeekr models running on CATL batteries would be extremely economical and allow a range of over 1000KM (China CTLC standard measurement)

Now to put this rapid charging technology into perspective, the current highest charging rate is delivered by Xpeng S4 at 480kW which is capable of delivering a 200KM range with a 5-minute charge. At the rate the EV charging and battery technology is evolving, soon all “juice-up” would be no difference than your current trip to the fuel pump.
