Zeekr Malaysia has organised a special driving experience with the 7X EV SUV to showcase its on- and off-road prowess.

EV SUVs are not often associated with their performance on and off the road, but Chinese NEV marque Zeekr thinks otherwise with its 7X EV SUV. To prove so, Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia (Zeekr Malaysia), the official distributor of Zeekr cars in Malaysia, recently organised the Zeekr 7X Beyond Drive Experience last month.

Held at the Sepang Bay 13 Off-Road Ranch, this special driving experience invited fellow Zeekr owners and media representatives to not only test out the 7X’s performance on the pavement, but also off of it.

Designed to showcase the 7X’s performance, control, comfort, and versatility beyond everyday city driving, the experience was split into two sessions, with the first one being the on-road parts. This session not only involved on-road driving to test out the comfort level and the autopilot functions of the car, but also a dedicated dynamic driving course, which includes a slalom course, as well as straight-line acceleration and braking tests.

As for the off-road part, it started with both the Obstacle Course and Adventure Trail. Guided by a professional instructor, the obstacle course required participants to drive the 7X through a series of off-road obstacles such as Side Slope, Steep Hill, Climb & Descent, Elephant Steps, and Water Wading—all made possible thanks to the car’s adjustable chassis height that allows for better approach, break-over, and departure angles.

As for the Adventure Trail, participants got behind the wheel of the 7X on a 1.6 km off-road route, where they were given the chance to test out the ride comfort and composure of the EV SUV, even across uneven terrains. Here, some of the 7X features, such as the Zeekr Magic Carpet Suspension and the Distributed Traction Control System, were put on the line.

But perhaps the most exciting activity during this driving experience was the Rally Experience Taxi Ride, where the 7X AWD Performance was transformed into a rally-capable car fitted with all-terrain tyres. Here, participants rode along with a professional rally driver on a 1.5 km high-speed off-road route with speeds reaching up to 120 km/h.

“The Zeekr 7X was designed for real driving situations. Over the past two days, this off-road drive experience really allowed participants to feel how the vehicle performs in different environments. From the defensive on-road driving and off-road obstacle courses to the steep hill climb & descent and off-road terrains, the 7X was truly pushed beyond its limits of everyday driving experiences,” said Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia.
