Driving 1.6 KM In Reverse With A Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
Guinness World Records, Backwards Driving, Scot Burner
Normally reversing a car is something everyone does, but to do it with speed and in a really long distance is something else.
Meet Scot Burner, the man from Nashville, Tennessee, who has claimed the Guinness world record for driving the fastest in reverse.
To achieve the record, it requires a course that is flat and ascending, and on top of that, Burner had to drag race backward.

Though, the track at the National Corvette Museum (NCM) Motorsports Park in Kentucky, US, where the feat was done, does not have a long and straight stretch.
As such, he had to start at turn four and drive through turns three, two, one and onto the main straight, which runs downhill when going in the correct, clockwise direction.
Murdering his 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, he did it for 1.6 KM, with a time of 75.18 seconds and at an average speed of 77 KM/H (48 MPH).

Outstandingly, the engine was up against the rev limiter for most of the run and smoking at the finish line, but did not suffer any mechanical failures.
According to him, moving forward, he would be interested in going for the absolute reverse top speed record, which since 2002, has stood at 166 KM/H (103 MPH).
That said, Scot Burner has a YouTube channel called ‘Always in Reverse’ that features him driving cars backward to see what their top speed is.
