South African Suzuki Jimny Gathering Sets Bizarre World Record
The Suzuki Jimny Gathering 2023 event organised by Suzuki Auto South Africa has set a rather bizarre and unique Guinness World Record last week.
Some time last week, it appears that a massive Jimny Gathering event was reportedly held in South Africa, and the effort even saw itself chart a rather bizarre yet unique Guinness World Record too.
The aim of the event, according to organisers, was to celebrate the spirit of the iconic Suzuki Jimny and bring owners together for a weekend filled with fun, off-roading, and camaraderie.
Though officials from the Guinness World Records body has not yet listed the record online, representatives from which were present during the attempt. Furthermore, carmaker Suzuki has also claimed that the record attempt was verified.
Altogether, nearly 800 Suzuki Jimny mini 4x4s spanning multiple generations got together to set a Guinness World Record for 'the most cars to switch on their lights simultaneously'.
Altogether, nearly 800 Suzuki Jimny mini 4x4s got together at a gathering festival organised by Suzuki Auto South Africa on 24 Sept 2023 to set the record for ‘the most cars to switch on their lights simultaneously’. It’s unclear if such a record was held prior, and no similar attempt is currently listed by Guinness.
“This is not just simply a record attempt but a way to pay homage to a community that has become so close-knit and passionate,” read a statement issued by event organisers regarding the festival and subsequent record attempt.
It continued further is saying “Jimny drivers everywhere flash their lights at each other in a greeting affectionately known as The Jimny Wave.”
We've recently tested the latest fourth-gen Suzuki Jimny ourselves recently and noted how this is a capable and fun mini off-roader that's all about smiles-per-miles.
Having test-driven the latest fourth generation Suzuki Jimny ourselves recently, we can perhaps understand and relate to the claims of its community being close-knit and passionate. As we’ve noted in our review too, purchasing the Jimny is an emotional buy, all largely in the name of smiles-per-miles.
Locally, importers and distributors Naza Eastern Motors Sdn Bhd offers the Jimny in one singular guise, but does also offer a wide range of official accessories packages for owners to jazz their Jimnys up with. More recently, the firm also launched a 30-unit only special called the Jimny Rhino Edition which we tested.
Presently, the Jimny retails for RM174,900 sans insurance and on-road costs.
